What everyone else has said. Si is a proper gent, and I've dealt with him on several basses. Every time has been a pleasure, and he's a thoroughly nice bloke to chat to as well. Such is my faith in the man, I think I bought my last P bass from him before I'd received any photos or details! It was a case of "I've got a '62 Jamerson that you'll love". I bought it on Si's recommendation, a day later it was with me, and it's a fantastic bass. Thanks mate
You are welcome Mark. Glad it's worked out for you and with flats too You'll be playing with one finger next
LEDS give full gain at all frequencys, where as the conventional resitor + cap can prove to be a slow slow in the low and high end. just had a thought it may be worth dropping the anode loads down to 47k it'll lower the gain but it'll make things sound more tubey and less shrill or harsh.
Steady on ol' chap .. This is all getting way beyond my confort zone For now I'll just swap over the main tone cap and see how that works
there are a few mods i'd recomend to these kind've amps that i've been working on for my circuit. Replace both of the cathode bypass resistor / caps with a Super bright red Led + 0.1uf cap, Replace c3 and c9 with 47n. From there you could increase the size of r4, 13 and 17 to attenuate more highs but there already very large. Also as has already been said replacing c2 with anything up to about 1000uf is always a good call or implanting an auto bias system!
This is for blues harp rather than guitar. Does that all still apply?

When I play in my normal band I'm usually 4 feet in front of the drum kit so side is kind of irrelevant. However I always play with the drummer on my left if I can so that I can see my bass neck, the drummer and front person all in one view.. If I was on the other side (where the hi hat is) I'd have to turn like Norm does all the time... Not so good for working the crowd (though Norm does it OK )
-
What do you do if you are in a Who tribute band?
-
Yup HH and Bass drum plus his "in breath before a fill" thing someone mentioned recently. But then me and my main band drummer have been playing together for ove 20 years so it's all fairly subconcious. I notice he also locks on on me

Has anyone ever been asked to pay to get into their own gig?
OldGit replied to Beedster's topic in General Discussion
OK, this is now sorted. Apparently it was a 'miscommunication', although I suspect they were chancing their arm as we are a new band. We're now getting free tickets for band +1 guest each member, but no fee. Of course, we're taking the 32-piece horn section for this gig
Damn right! -
If there was ever a valve amp schematic you could call 'cute' that would be it! It's right up there with Fabian's Hack-a-day Business Card Valve Amp - a project i STILL haven't gotten around to building!
Ha ha .. It's a cute little amp that punches beyond it's weight. Not so good with a bass through it though
I think a guy on here told the story of how, at a corporate function gig, the MD was so shocked by the band's choice of music that he paid them to leave. Now that's rock n' roll, sort of
Cue a million lines on way "Pay to Not Play" is so wrong! -

That's bonkers .. Time for a sharp exit ... unless, of course, it's your ticket to the Big Time ...
