1. I have a black soft blanket fron IKEA (£3 or so) If I have to leave gear on the back seat (say en route to a gig, services getting coffee or a pee) I cover anything visible from the outside with it and it becomes a load less visible either due to the relection from the glass or dark at night. Of course if the local toerags know there's musicians in and out of a building they can just hang out and watch for stuff to nick but the black blanket does help on the road.
 2.
6. Most people will look at a band photo and decide whether to listen to or book them based solely on that image. Think SuBo!
+1 Had to google SuBo .. I guess I don't read the right papers :
 3.
Man I need quite powerful glasses! I hope they don't get too much worse. The laser option might come up soon! Although strangely theyve got better recently. Sansamp is love/hate like marmite. Its the ultimate lightweight rig...I just took that and a bass/leads on tour last year...with all the normal other bits n bobs...but no amp/cab. We just didnt have the space.
When you are fumbling about looking for 9th position to start the bass intro to the next tune those little glowing markers are a god send I went for laser treatment but they can't fix what is wrong with my eyes ..
 4.
Any LEDs on a bass hahah! Its a bass! Too many settings and controls on an amp...if you need to fiddle with it too much, its a sh*t amp, (note this is half just a joke). (I do this next one)...thinking about great tone and striving really hard to get it..when all it takes is a little skill, a little patience, a non-complex bass and amp/cab. Should spend more time on practice and enjoying it! But...I kinda enjoy GAS sometimes.
LED's: wait til you are old and your eyes are not so good .. then those tiny little Fender side marker dots just dissapear under stage lights and in the dark ... oh and "Tech 21 Sansamp BDDI"
 5.
ashtrays and led's
Front LEDs, I totally agree.. Side leds are the greatest thing to happen to mankind since the invention of the radial tyre.
 6.
I think that after 7 pages, we can sucessfully conclude 5 things: 1) Some people care about the band's appearance on stage when they see a gig 2) Some people don't. 3) Some people Have a uniform/dress code in their band and try to make an effort 4) Some don't - although this doesn't matter to some people as they don't care (see 1)) 5) For the sake of the people that do care we should all make an effort when playing live
If only you'd said that 7 pages ago
 7.
And the damage to the car is not inconsiderable either - glass shards everywhere and aggro with insurance company etc.
Make sure you get the agreement to have orginal manufacturer's glass fitted by the replacement people. they will try to stuff you with "just as good" after market stuff if you don't get the insurance co's agreement beforehand.
 8. Not that good.. She had to have an assistant to play that solo
 9.
Yep, sure is. Sorry about that. CM saves you spending money [well for the £6/7.00] Sound wise, they are the same [DAWS]...Just 0's and 1's... It's the sound/audio card that generates the sound, so you will need a reasonable sound card. Thats another thing ... Garry
OK Thanks to all
 10.
This has made me feel sick, do you know who did it and did you ever get it back?
no and no. just strange things abut the robery like walking straight past stuff a normal drug-habit-funding burgler would take and putting the bass in it's case and taking that too .. Stuff like that .. Anyway the one that came up in Cardiff on ebay last week was the spitting image... except for the serial number
 11.
I would just buy ableton live its miles ahead of reason, much more flexable and can actually be used as a live instrument and you get a synth and drum machine plus effects with it. If you are serious about using DAWs i would fork out you tend to get what you pay for sound quality wise.
Sure I realise that but this is a fickle kid's current interest. We'll see how it goes once he's stuck with it for longer than 5 minutes There's every chance he's just saying he's interested in it to shut me up with my never ending intollerable "play an instrument, make some music" nagging
 12.
And dont forget the Computor Magazine with a free DVD [Monthly] Comes with Sequencer, drum synths, a Sampler, all kinds of other free synths and FX plug ins, Tutorials, and tons of one hit samples and loops. About 6 or 7 squids. Well worth a punt. Garry
Cool, is that Computer Music Monthly or something like that?
 13.
Will you stop talking to yourself! Alex
Don't panic.... others are listening as well
 14. Had my 62 p bass nicked from my house (and to order I reckon) back in the day .. That was horrible. Meanwhile you should ask the citezens advice about the fund to cover stuff like this when scumbags smash your stuff. You may have to wait until the theif is convicted though so it may be tricky ..
 15.
Or if you're not happy with Cheddatom's suggestion I have a pukka version of Reason 2.5 I'm looking to sell.
How much would you like for it mate?
 16. Hi My lad did a thing at school where a local hi-tech recording studio guys came in with laptops and midi keyboards and taught them to do tracks in a few hours. He turned up some pretty good stuff in that time and I'm keen for him to continue. The problem is that they were using Reason .. the ol' budget for thing he may never use again doesn't stretch that far so is there a reasonable or free or shareware type product that is enoughg like Reason for him to use what he lerrned? Thanks
 17.
Great tune! Played it last night myself and it went down a storm! Actually, I wonder how many players on BC played that song last night - that would be an interesting statistic
ha ha Well done on surviving your dep gigs guys, and Mustang Sally WoT I liekto drop in some of the horn section lines when I play it .. Makes it a tad more interesting ..
 18. Dont' worry .. Run through the start of each number, Do your cheat sheet with reminders and clues eg whosstarts, what your first note is, ona big bit of paper in big black marker pen (to go on the floor) and then go and enjoy it .. Remember they should be so pleased to be able to play the gig that any fluffs by you will be a minor thing, if they notice at all. The punters won't
 19.
I really wouldn't feel like playing bass at 4.15am, and my partner wouldn't be too happy either.......
Headphones?
 20.
Hiya mate Thanks for the advice, very handy, I dont really know what I'm doing with stuff like that, I'm not sure what kit was used to record it, but i suspect it was just a Sony digital camcorder/integral mic, I'll find out though. As for the two finger thing, it dosent sound as fat as traditional "hook" style but for faster lines that's not always a bad thing, but I do play with plenty of finger meat on the strings, I use one finger for slower stuff, basically I switch as either a kind of tone control or because it makes playing faster smoother for me, thats the conclusion I have come to so far anyway.
OK Thanks OG
 21.
That's exactly how I've been feeling about my bass playing for a good few years now. Unfortunately there are 1000 other things in my life need attending to before I can even consider getting a bass out of it's case, let alone playing it, so I've done nothing about it.
Get up 15 minutes earlier and play for 10 mins per day.
 22. Hey, great stuff. Lovely quality. What camera and sound kit did you use? I see you use bass guitar style right hand plucking rather than double bass style. Any thoughts on the differences? If you have a band, or cause, or whatever, website or Myspace you should link to it from the text description area. Use the full url with the http:// bit to make it a hot link. Also put your band name in the header. This helps people find you on Youtube. May I suggest that it would be a tad more entertaining if your guitarist faced the audience rather than the drummer?
