2.
9 Million squallods.
Probably closer to 10 if the solder is original.
3. Either or is good... whichever is easiest for you.
4.
I don't know who produces bigger piles of cack - matey here, or our other dear friend, Shovelhands I had to go and wash my hands after seeing this one
Wouldn't it be amazing to see a collaboration effort from them both.
5.
Best not to interfere, just let it run.
Absolutely. If the seller gets a nice surprise at the end that that's fantastic for them.
6. No doubt some goody two shoes will tell them and kill anyone's chance of getting a bargain.
7. Btw that's ^ not on a stand or leaning on anything, that's just how it balances itself just now.
8. Listen with your eyes closed first.
9. I recently gambled on the cheap blue variable temp solder station from Maplin so I could have one in the house as well as the workshop and it turned out to be pretty good. About 20 quid and its every bit as good as my 60 quid one.
10. Try it that way first and if it works ok you're golden. A decent iron should only take a couple of seconds each.
11. Just try not to get it too hot (hold the iron on too long) or you could melt the winding wires inside
12. Having read the description, I think he's still tripping now.
13.
I take it you probably don't want me to do that layout diagram then? I did actually get halfway through it, thought I'd finish it off the next day but in the intervening period managed to sever a nerve in my right index finger. Which kind of put a damper on anything that involved using a pen.
Good god man no. You get yourself better first... if its at all fixable. The last thing any of us bass players needs is nerve damaged fingers (a constant fear of mine in my day to day work). Maybe once you're all better you can update the thread with your circuit for future Pangborn users in a similar predicament.
14.
That looks great, looking forward to seeing this finished. Are you planning on using a looper to mix guitar and bass parts when playing live?
Cheers. Yup that's the idea. Also the pedal board I use in this project has a Unibass at it's heart to produce a guitar sound from the bass too.
15.
That's pretty shocking for what would have been an expensive bass when new. BTW the trade name for that stuff is VERO board, generic name is strip board.
Yup I've used it many times. But I've not made a mess like that since I first started making my own projects way back in the 80s.
16. Some jobs are made easier with another set of paws... the owner of the paws...
17. This is all I've got done on it today. Had to stop early tonight as we've got dinner guests coming and guess who's turn it is to cook .... again
18. I made my on-board fuzz prototype. It was supposed to be for the guitar but my tests find that it might sounds best on bass.... so I'm now making a separate DAM Meathead on board for the guitar .... I've tidied up the guitar neck heel. When I first got it it had been literally smashed from it's body - luckily the neck survived intact. Template finished and all set to rout.... Hopefully get a chance to trim and start routing today
19. Been kinda busy and I've neglected this thread a bit. Here's some pics of the what's been going on (when I've had time) .... A more consolidated idea of the final thing. The "rake" on the guitar neck is a tad exaggerated here though.... oh and I no longer want to have the treble pup at an angle. Some ideas for possible scratch-plates should I go front routed... Rough cut out of the template plus my calculations of pup placement.... yes I'm one of those weirdos that like to place pup pole-pieces on harmonic nodes.... I got wood... prepped, glued and clamped....
20.
You could always just paint a black humbucker-sized rectangle on to the guitar near the bridge to retain the purity but keep the 'balanced' look! Seriously though this looks like it will be another great project and I look forward to seeing how it progresses!
Hahah why didn't I think of that.
21.
Sadly not anymore dude
Oh you big North Sea Tiger you.
