Hi all - up for sale is my Fender Jazz 1962 Reissue in Olympic White - Made in Mexico in 2015. Rosewood neck, reverse gear tuners, 38mm neck. Weighs 4.2kg. Bought recently here but have my eye on something else, so last one in, etc. No case but will be well packed, as it was to me. Can be shipped in a used hard case for extra £30. I'm in Co.Down, N.Ireland if anyone is local. Selling for £440 £420 plus postage.

Hey folks - up for sale is my Fender Player Precision in Tidepool - Made in Mexico in 2020. Bought in June 2020, played maybe two gigs with it. In near mint condition - one tiny ding at the bottom of the letter 'P' in Precision on the headstock. Amazingly fun bass to play and the colour is just magical in the flesh/wood. It pains me to part with it but I have my eyes on something else so time to move on. Comes with dustcover gig bag. £550 £500 plus postage. I'm in Co.Down, N.Ireland if anyone is local.

Dingwall owners - 4 string neck question
Gareth Hughes replied to Gareth Hughes's topic in Bass Guitars
Thanks for that Artisan. Hmmmm - feeling my GAS might be heading in the ABZ direction - I do like a skinny neck. More food for thought. Appreciate the responses everyone. -
Dingwall owners - 4 string neck question
Gareth Hughes replied to Gareth Hughes's topic in Bass Guitars
Ah - I did think to ask you directly but I thought yours was a 5. -
Hi all - I've been bitten by the Dingwall bug but have none nearby to try. So a question to you 4 string Dingwall owners - with the nut width being slanted (45.5mm on a 4 string D-Roc for example) - does anyone have an idea of what that translates to on the parallel side of things? In other words - in the hand, does the neck feel like a 38mm Jazz neck or a 42mm Precision neck, etc? Thanks in advance, Gareth

The Ultimate KISS Song Tournament
Gareth Hughes replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in General Discussion
I’m torn. So many I could choose from, and a few I could happily never hear again (‘My Way’ anyone?) - and this coming from a guy with a Rock N Roll Over cover tattoo. Honourable mention: ‘Who Wants To Be Lonely’. Winner for me is: Parasite. But honestly, they’re all winners 😀. I have a playlist on the iPod called ‘Kiss-a-thon’. It’s every studio album, solos included, in chronological order. My youngest, 11, puts it in shuffle in the school run. Too much fun. -
Borderline disco, but the 4 to the floor and the chorus harmonies push it over the edge, IMO.
-
And bought - cheers for that. Been wanting a Bassman sound in this format for a while. Worth it for that alone.
-
The black pickguard with the tidepool and maple doesn’t work in my head and then seeing it in reality it just somehow works, IMO.
-
Thanks for that, much appreciated. Even more tempted now! Looks so good.
-
Is that a maple fingerboard on a Tidepool bass? If so, any chance of a full length pic? Loving the black pickguard - it’s tempting me to change from my white one.

Shuttlemax 9.2 D.I. [ now no worky ]
Gareth Hughes replied to fleabag's topic in Repairs and Technical
If it makes you feel better, at two gigs over the past fortnight I have spent a good ten minutes trying to eliminate this buzzing that just came out of nowhere, wasn’t there earlier, calling over soundguys to help, etc only to finally realise that, in leaning over to adjust pedals, I have knocked my pickup from parallel to single coil. Doh!!!! -
New Tech21 pedal Frank Bello (Anthrax) sig. Now with video demo.
Gareth Hughes replied to fretmeister's topic in Effects
Oooooo - colour me VERY interested in this. Huge fan of his tone. -
Enjoy! I’m waiting on mine - though not with baited breath, I’d die. I backed it on Kickstarter and then that went pear shaped, so maybe one day it will happen. Anyway, hope you like it!

Sorry Al, I just wanted to get the ‘Shirley’ line in. Absolutely agree that an octave pedal is a) better sounding and b) much more practical than a 42’ scale bass. (I do admire the ‘sure why not?’ attitude of making it though.) Side note: what does the Latin translate to?
-
But where’s the spirit of adventure then? (And don’t call him Shirley) 😀
-
Not quite the same, but I bought a Shuttle 9.2 on here from thebrig for £395 in June of 2022.
-
And they feel great - it’s a perfect Goldilocks neck for me. The PB70-US I have is a keeper above all else.

Analog chorus - Jam Waterfall, Boss CE2w, providence anadime
Gareth Hughes replied to lidl e's topic in Effects
MXR Analog Chorus is my favourite - even sounds lush with the speed cranked and depth at 50%, kind of Fender Rhodes territory. Cheap and cheerful but still damn good is the TV Electronic’s Afterglow - that one has a great Duff McKagan vibe. -
Does anyone in the UK stock Modern Vintage basses?
Gareth Hughes replied to ossyrocks's topic in Bass Guitars
I bought the black fretless MVJ-66 that was in Bass Direct - I’m sure that’s the wrong model number. Beautiful feeling and playing instrument. Bizarrely didn’t have any shielding which meant it buzzed when the strings weren’t touched. No excuse for that on a £1500 instrument. Had it shielded with copper tape and now’s it’s whisper quiet. More frustrating was having zero response about it from several emails to John Files and via Facebook, thought that let the side down quite a bit, but it’s still a great instrument. -
This might not be relevant but when this happened to me it was because I had my iPad in a case with a bluetooth keyboard. Case was folded over so iPad could sit on regular music stand. Weight of iPad against keyboard was pushing keys in, causing random scrolling. Turned off the bluetooth from the keyboard and all was fine.

Have you checked out Miles Mosely? He runs his upright through a lot of effects. There’s a great rig rundown of him - might be a Dunlop produced thing. Will link if I can find it.

And the links are now just a holding page. Hope all is well with him.
