1. I would also add that I have bought all 4 American Standard Fenders I have owned, (2 of which I still have, and I still regret selling the other 2), online without seeing or playing them, and they have all been perfect.
2.
The choice is yours, I'd say USA if you can afford it & want a player + a keeper
That is exactly what I was going for, well said sir!
3. You will get many different opinions on this, but I would say get the American every time. MiMs are very variable in terms of quality, and the pickups are a little on the weak side. I have an American P and an American Jazz, and they are both flawless, amazing instruments. (Infact, the P is so good, that the Jazz hasn't been out of its case since the P arrived.) The new 2012 P basses have 60s Custom shop pickups, which sound incredible, and are so much better than the MiM pickups. Also, have a good think to yourself about whether you really need that Jazz, you said that you love the P neck shape, but the Jazz has a very different neck shape. My advise would be to go with the American P bass, you definitely won't regret it

5. oddly, I do pretty much naff all with my mids haha. I use channel 1 on my Landmark, which is modelled on the Sansamp BDDI, and as such has no mid control. I have the drive, bass and treble all at pretty much 12 o'clock, blend at full and presence at 3 o'clock. This gives me a very ampeggy sound, and I have never had a problem cutting through.
6. Phwoooarrrrr!! If only I had 2 grand On an unrelated note, how much do kidneys go for these days??.....
7.
Sadly, this is true. Depression is not an emotion, or a state of mind - it's an illness. Saying 'snap out of it' shows you've never experienced true depression, you can't possibly imagine what it's like and you don't understand it.
very true. I love playing bass, and often do it everyday, but sometimes I can't even muster the strength to get out of bed, let alone get all my bass gear out and play. My advice would be to start slowly, 5-10 minutes may not seem like much, but it can make a world of difference. Try setting yourself small goals, maybe something as simple as just playing along to a certain song, and gradually build from there. Stick at it, and do your best
8. Ok, well if you decide to split I will definitely take the cab
