Funky chops and lovely tone! Me? Jealous?? Just an ickle bit!!

My advice at this stage would be to beg, steal or borrow (not steal, obviously.... you may get into trouble!!) a Zoom H2 recorder and set that up in front of your bands stage setup. It should provide you with a decent representation of what any potential audience would be hearing Failing that, you may need to spend a lttle cash. BTW, have you tried local colleges and/or universities and their sound engineering departments? Always full of eager students who would jump at the chance of the engineering/recording experience and the studio facilties are usually heavily subsidised too.

What is often harsh sounding on it's own may well sit good in the mix. Experiment post recording with compressors and eq (cut rather than boost). Perseverence is the answer here as your gear is spot on. Keep going and you'll hit the jackpot. It's taken me nearly two years to get my sound how I like it on tape!!!

Did a recording session yesterday, with the intention of just getting a decent sound out of Darren's new kit. However, the moment Martin said "I've been working on this little ditty", that went out the window. Please excuse the 'earthiness' of the drums and bass.... it was a one take job with some vocal thrown over the top, and it's a long way from being mixed and mastered properly. Need to overdub a solo and add backing vocals etc. Although, I'm quite pleased with the vocal... it's more 'out front' than our previous efforts. Just shows how a little idea can inspire others into getting a song down!! Either have a listen to Every Boy Every Girl here or download below. Any feedback would be nice. For the record... Fender P straight into the board purely as a backing guide.... amped bass to follow in another session.

Welcome! We don't care who you are or what you are.... just a love of the lowend!!! -
I saw them supporting Motley Crue of all bands way back on the Crue's Theatre Of Pain tour at Hammy. Great gig!! That was the night (Valentine's Day) that Nikki went out straight after the gig, scored some brown, OD'ed and was pronounced clinically dead in hospital. Clever lad!

Does Your Mother Know? - Abba. Great riff and guaranteed to fill the dance floor!! -
Gave me counterfeit twentys for my spare PA system. Too lazy to deal in person so sent his butler and stablehand to do the fetching. Bugged me ever since with mundane questions about the PA.... TRY READING THE BLOODY MANUAL!!!! Only kidding!!! TOP guy to do business with!!
Forget amps, effects, basses and all other stuff. What will make you, and, more important, your band sound full and huge, is learning how to work with others. It's not only you, that make you sound full and huge. It's also other members of the band. Most important, the drummer. The hugeness comes from tightness. You wouldn't believe, how a good drummer enhances bassist. And vice versa. once again, forget about gear, concentrate on process.
Couldn't agree more with this. We had a rehearsal this morning and the drummer was trying out his new shells (Ludwig Vistalite in blue, for the mono-browed dribblers out there!). After he'd finished masturbating we just locked in together, really tight and the sound/power was immense. Still smiling now!

I'm no Trace expert, but I do know that the series 6 range of amps are among the most sought after by affecionado's. At a guess, I would estimate the combo could reasonably go for about £250 - £300 and the cab, fully flightcased for about £170. I could be way off the mark though.....

Just check to make sure the speakon output isn't dual. Some are made now to accept a jack in the middle instead of a speakon.

I think I need to practice some more after watching this....
I liked him until that part and then I decided he was a dickhead.
Jeez..... people have to be real careful round you, don't they? -
OK,all gear was taken to Steve on Tuesday. No distortion. Not a single sizzle. Much scratching of heads was done, until Steve said "Play as hard as possible, and I'll do this." This being lifting the amp off of the cab. Hey presto,no rattles,no buzz.He then checked all the screws, retightened all of them, and sent me on my way. He did not want paying, but as he is such a nice guy,I forced £10 on to him,and left a happy man. The next thing to do is to find a shockmount flightcase!
Again, check the MB website. They now do shockmount cases for the LM2 heads.
