2.
Crikey! Have a BUMP for an AMAZING price on a full US made Spector!!
You seem like a man who could do with one more spector. take your fancy?
3. If you end up using Cubase again check the Device Setup located in the Devices tab along the top. There you should be able to make sure the correct setup/device is being used. I.e. Its using the correct sound device for playback. Also check control panel - sound and audio devices again to make sure your laptop is actually using the right sound card also. Cubase doesn't automatically swap devices depending on what you have plugged in. You have to do this manually. Hope this helps. Tx EDIT: this may be the same for reaper but never used it.
4.
I'd be wary about going to view it...given his/her other items for sale
Priceless
5. It really is a lovely bass too. I've wanted a Rick for years and this has to go to get it lol
6. 5 string black usa spector up for grabs. I brought this from nobodys prefect about 5 months ago and it is in pretty much mint condition. Pre amp has been changed for emg. More details and photos up tomorrow but thought i'd start the process now. Up for £900 but open to offers as looking for quick sale to fund buying a Ricky. PM or message on here for more info. Thanks Tx EDIT: I Hope Nobodys Prefect doesn't mind but i'm gonna use his pictures and steal his sales pitch as he is clearly much more knowledgeable and eloquent than myself "So, the good: * Spector Tone + a bolt-on neck means a big growly tone that will never be buried in a mix. Goes mellow if you like, spanky if you dig in. Me likey. *Electronics are not the stock, the preamp (often cited as the weakest link) is upgraded into what is apparently an EMG BQC system. The Bridge 40TW is often considered one of the better options for bridge placement in Spectors. * Ergonomics. Really, US Spectors shine in this department, and I've been very pleasantly surprised how little of a reach the neck makes. Very light weight. Does very low action very well. * The looks - a matter of taste, but I like the translucent black and the body shape combo a lot. the bad: * the string spacing will be close for some. I find this easier to slap than a Warwick 5, for comparison. the ugly: * the pot knobs seriously need to be upgraded to metal. What are those americans thinking? * there are minuscule dents in the back, which hardly show * the Gary Willis tuners are ugly, but highly functional Comes with a really minty Spector hard case. Truss rod functions beautifully" EDIT: now on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...T#ht_500wt_1158
7. Thats is great. The dude is clearly having a great time. and this is the art of drumming: T
8. This kinda thing always annoys me. Went into my local shop for a new bass about 5 years ago. Wanted a MM Stingray 4 so tried out a couple etc. etc. The guy "looking after" me then asked what sort of music I played. Upon receiving the answer he spent 40/50 minutes telling me why I shouldn't buy the stingray!! I hand't come in for advice I had come in to buy a bloody stingray (I had the cash in my pocket). Needless to say I got the stingray. From somewhere else. I think the problem with most instrument shops is the staff know best. Better than you anyway lol T
9. I love effects but then I play purely to have fun and I fully enjoy making odd noises and lush textural sounds. It doesn't cover my lack of talent because thats apparent in the portions of our songs that are effects-less I mean would a piano player really say to a keyboard player "you use all those sounds make up for a lack of talent"? I suppose some would because there way is right so everything else must be wrong. Do you consider Rick Wakeman talentless because of his use of ker-azy sounds? Like others have said if you don't miss them or want them then they are clearly not for you. But all this effects making up for being sh*t nonesense is just pointless gas-bagging I think. T
10. Some of it is the inherent sound of the cabs and gear; some of it is knowing what to tweak to achieve that sound. All of it is part of that process isn't it? Tone or the ideal sound can't be caused by just 1 thing. that would be silly
11. back on topic. Tone for me is about my bass sounding like it does in my head. Its something thats is part of the whole creative process. To always sound better. I've played certain lines or runs through various setups and where sometimes I feel like i'm not playing it properly due to the sound or 'tone' and start to doubt myself as a player. Then I play the same through my nice new equipment and to me it sounds like it should do. Probably makes no difference to the rest of the band but it makes me happy. and thats what its all about. Tx
12. The first 3/4 minutes just speak to me of sadness and loss. Cracking track T
13. Someone once said to me "it's nice to see someone play the bass like a bassist and not a guitarist" I thought that was really cool. I'm certainly not the greatest but I do what I do well and enjoy it. We got pretty sweet reviews all round for our album which is nice. BIGUP T
14. I'm in. Only down the road in southend, not really got anything interesting to bring but gimme a shout if there's anything I can do. T
15. We've used various intro songs over the years but always something that we've made, It does make you look abit of a ponce (our current one has loads of strings and piano) but thats half the fun. Plus people generally do take notice. And then bugger off when we start playing T
16.
Yeah, his sound on 'Christmas' is the bass tone I'd love to get but don't have the cash or patience chasing.
I fully know what you mean man. 'tis better to receive could be my fav bass tone ever. back on topic abit I know afew people with various rats and my have to get involved on this T
17.
Caleb Schofield of Cave In uses one too, along with a Fulltone Fulldrive, another possibility for bass and guitar.
Man that guys tone is sick
18. Yeah a clean blend always helps. That or the mxr blowtorch, got one about two weeks ago, not used in a band setup yet but its clearly quality T
19. +1 for the VFB-2. I've gone through quite afew fuzz's and overdrives and a clean blend does make a drastic difference. Also I used, and still do sometimes, an ODB-3 - I always set it at very low gain and it keeps it gritty. The minute you start putting the gain up the wasps appear. T
20. I'll probably more than likely pick one up in addition to the 5 and i can always move it on if its not for me. I did find it funny though that for about 9 years I'd played a 4 and didn't even think abut getting a 5 and then get a 5 and immediately want a 6
