1. Ive got a Sound LAB Micro Mixer and works fine: http://www.audiomate.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=G105F It's the best you can get for £10 ish
2. Does anyone have tried these stands? http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...ini_Stands.html I'm wondering if they are ok for a jazz bass type of bass, considering the base is not symetrical. Thanks, Johann
3.
I haven't tested it yet, but that's something they've changed too. There's a new set-up screen called 'Scene' where you can have the light level determined AUTO-matically, or select NIGHT for low lighting levels, or CONCERT LIGHTING for very bright lights. I don't yet know how 'clever' these settings are or whether they are dynamic in any way. I'm currently guessing that this is just a fancy way of describing setting the camera to Lo/Hi ... While re-reading the very short manual, I've also spotted what I skipped before which is the option to change both the image quality and the sound quality. I'll edit my original review to correct that.
Any test on low light conditions? I sold my Q3 because in most gigs the light was low and the video recording was bad, so I ended up using it as a recorder.
4. Hi Steve, how much would it cost each lesson?
5. DB750 at £1500 plus shipping from spain: http://www.doctorbass.net/en/producto.asp?...dfam=1000166904
6. If you dont mind how much did you pay for that beauty?
7.
I have a nice little compact rig which will do most of my gigs. I am thinking about a larger one and my thinking was this. My possible wishlist SWR900 plus Goli snr 6x10 or another 6x10 cabs DB750/751 with AG DB cabs. and a few other ideas. The thing that is causing me to deliberate ( aprt from the money ) is that this will likely not be cheap and also isn't a rig I would cart around often enough. I'd get more mileage out of a heavier amp than heavier bulkier speakers though. A 38lb amp plus flighcase isn't THAT bad and I wouldn't get rid of my current amp anyway.
Ive tried the TC Electronic gear in a pub's gig, they were loud! I think the DB750 will stay at home for a while, difficult to find a venue where its power would be required but I might take it for an special one ;-)
8. I bought from Jon a TC Electronic Classic 450 and a RS210, the items were as described, very fast delivery, well packed and a very nice guy to deal with. Johann
9.
I suspect that you're referring to my thread in 'amps and cabs' - the transformation requires replacement of the circuit breaker switch (a £75 unit as far as I can remember) and some internal re-wiring. Be careful with placement of the jumper switch and ensure that you have the thermistor in place. A bit of effort will deliver immense reward - probably my favourite amp head (well, this and the Epifani ul502). I'd agree entirely on the double handled rack case and the trolley. I'm thinking about a shockrack with castors. The DB750 is immensely heavy (I had to carry mine for half a mile from the Parcelforce depot when it arrived - 'absolutely knackered).
Thanks for the info! Have you had any issues since then?
10.
I'd hate to get a great amp like this and then go poking around with a soldering iron! Approx £100 will get you a step up transformer. I play with 2 guitarists who use US combos with 120/240 transformers.
For an amp like this should be something like this: http://www.coleparmer.co.uk/catalog/produc...157838&pfx= Not sure about wanting another thing to carry aroound but its a good point to keep it as it came from the US factory...
11. Once I bought a white fretless Rick from soundslive, couldnt work out where the notes were so I sent it back but it was one of the most beautiful basses Ive ever had in my hands. +1 for the review
12.
Ok, thanks. Not good for the postage. I thought there were a few issues with U.S DB750's swapping to UK voltage...? I guess a UK amp will run to about £1000 SH here so if you can get one over from the U.S for there or thereabouts inc post etc etc , I wouldn't rule it out.
Will report back once the transformation is done, it should be simple ive been told but there was a long thread here in BC about an issue with the transformation... are you thinking about getting one?
13. When buying the head I was expecting paying 200 US for the delivery, suddenly it became 500 US what it was way too much, I checked some UK sites and Parcel Network quote me £100 so I booked it, a long story short they didnt have any idea about my delivery so after a week a cancelled it and we arrange a new delivery from an US company for 350 US. The good thing is that for some reason I wasnt charged any vat or customs duty. Ive decided to go for a db750 because I was attracted by its good reviews and liked its eq simplicity and power. I would have considered a db751 but the classic tag of the 750 was more attractive.
14. Something like this? http://www.langtoninfo.co.uk/showitem.aspx...n=0824599400139 Need to recover my finances first :-)
15. The precision deluxe used to be my dream bass but I couldnt actually try any... Nice gear shockwave!
16. My new gear almost complete (Still waiting for my TC Electronic RS210), after selling my mesa boogie walkabout here in Basschat, 3 basses (1 sold in Basschat the rest in ebay) I was able to get hold after a painful import from USA to an Aguilar DB750, I realize that carrying that beast it's not an easy task so I decided to buy the TC Electronic stuff as a backup for smaller gigs, I might replace it then by a Aguilar TH500 if they ever reach this part of the world. Thanks to jonnyj for the TC stuff, johnbiffa for buying my Mesa Boogie, martfitz for buying my Sandberg, Jacob Kreifels from Wild Party (The Wombats' support act) for the DB750 and Guitar Guitar for the DB112 and to all the basschaters for giving me the ideas of what gear to try out. Cheers! Johann
17. One of my friends lent me his ARTcessories Clean Box II to try reducing the noise and I can say that it makes it a lot quieter but still not the same as when not conected to the power adapter. Will keep reporting my findings. Cheers, Johann
18. No, I dont use the USB for live so its only a problem when recording in my laptop. I can actually just use batteries when recording but its just annoying having something "hum-less" just under certain circumstances. The guys from Diago are going to contact me about my issue, I might get some sort of explanation or solution, will come back with any new findings. Thanks for your help! Johann
19. No luck trying different effects and cables, what I've found out is that it only happens when I connect the output signal of any effect to my USB audio interface: - if I use a normal amplifier doesn't make any noise. - No noise at all when using batteries on the effects - It doesn't stop if I unplug the laptop and run it on batteries. Cheers, Johann
20. Thanks, it actually makes hum once I plugged the tuner, will check the cables and the rest of the effects. Cheers! Johann
21. Hi, I've got a Diago Powerstation that I bought a while ago, it wasn't cheap but it was suppose to be hum free. While using it in a loud environment (Reahearsal or Gigs) works fine but now that I'm recording makes a a nightmare trying to get rid of the hum that produces. I've sent an email to check if the problem is because the unit is faulty but I'm prepared to check for alternatives in case that doesnt work out well. Anyone has any experience with the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power?, it is very expensive but wanted to know if it's worthy. Thanks! Johann http://www.diago.co.uk/pedal-power/powerstation/ http://www.voodoolab.com/pedalpower_2.htm
22. Sold my beloved Mesa Boogie Walkabout head with its 12 4ohm cabinet to John, highly recommended buyer, very good communication, cash on collection, a very nice guy.
23. Trevor Buck at PMT in Birmingham 01213595056 and Dave at http://www.moseleyviolins.co.uk/, both really nice and professional guys
24. Now if you ask Aguilar about transforming an US DB750 to UK they will charge you near £250 for the components... What I understood is that it's supposed to be a really quick change. From an article on Bass Player: "For international use, the DB750 can be internally reconfigured to operate on 100-, 120-, 220-, or 230-volt AC lines. (This procedure should be implemented only by a qualified tech, as 220-volt and 230-volt operation requires changing the circuit breaker/power switch.)"
