Which one? The MF101? Well, yes, 4-pole with a huge amount of resonance and a nice drive.
Chromatron is only 2-pole but you can get some juicy sounds from it.
They do get better once played in. They sound way too bright when they first go on. I’m just put a new set on my bass and it’s always a pain for a few weeks waiting for them to dull off.
Yes I do. Yes, C4 can cover all the same sounds, but doesn’t have as many hands-on controls as Spectrum (the latter has direct access to 8 parameters via the knobs whereas the former only has 6).

Is your gripe the cost or the number of pieces of equipment? An upgraded version that doesn’t require additional hardware would still cost as much as a C4 plus small controller.
