    If I remember correctly, the TU-3 is one of the Boss pedals that has both a power in and power out socket. So you can use a normal Boss 9V adaptor to power it, then use a daisy chain cable to run from the power out socket of the tuner into the power in socket of the envelope filter. It'll easily drive those two pedals.

    I wish this had been around in August as I was looking for one then. I bought a Japanese one in the end. Do you still have the original pickups and tuner?

    If you mean the current USA Geddy Lee model then that has a chunkier neck than this as the the GL is more like the 74 reissue. These 75ri necks are more like the ones found on the Fender Japan 75ri. Very comfortable and reasonably slim front to back (though not as slim as the Japanese Geddy Lee model).

    HS Stingrays are still available. (Look under the “configuration” tab when browsing the Stingray on their site.) Nice bass anyway and a good deal cheaper than a new one (and an interesting pickup combination).

    Got a reply today. This was a prototype which never made it to production; apparently it was too noisy. The new one will have some kind of fuzz too apparently.

    As it happens, I’m in Sheffield so Manchester isn’t too far. I’m also in The Netherlands (Limburg) later this month so it might be possible after all.

    That’s about what I paid new. Also, the Deja Vu is the 2-LFO model (no envelope control) so not interested.

    Thanks, Cameron. Indeed it is a great filter and super easy to dial in. I just want something with which I can vary the resonance to taste.

    I’m actually still only at the beginning of the journey. The only one I own is the Subterranea. I had the Future Impact on loan for a couple of weeks. I think I already mentioned that I loved the sounds but found it didn’t really feel right in terms of responsiveness to playing; some settings yielded a sluggish feel or incorrect pitches triggering. I must say, I’m tempted by the Boss SY-300 that’s listed here after checking out some videos. It’s a lot of cash if I find I don’t like it though. It’s definitely one I’d like to rent.

    I’m interested to hear your thoughts on why you’d choose the FI over this. How does the tracking compare? I found on certain voices the FI struggled and would sometimes retrigger the previous pitch even though I’d played a new pitch (mostly with faster lines). I loved many of the sounds in it and never even touched the editor software. Can this cop the following FI presets? 1, 3, 32, 85?

    Yes, it did but I only heard it in summer after seeing them at a festival I was playing at. In my defence, I think the initial post was ambiguous in its wording and I wasn’t sure if it meant “favourite album released this year” or “favourite album heard this year”. There’s a broadcast of one of their recent orchestral gigs airing on Radio 2 on Wednesday.

    Yep, “Edith and the Kingpin” and “The Hissing of Summer Lawns” are outstanding tracks. Many of these albums can be listened to in their entirety on youtube.

    Indeed. I learned a couple of his solos by listening to them on cd over and over until I got them down.
