  1. Ok thanks - I've struggled in the past being able to hear myself but defintely something to add to the list.
  2. It'll be my temporary rehearsal rig - at home I use my PC. Once this band is gigging then I'll buy something better. Can't leave the amp at the rehearsal room... I don't think. Peavey TNT might be too heavy to take out the car at home.
  3. Yeah seen that and one similar locally but dont know whether it would be loud enough for a rock band?
  4. So our rehearsal room is changing to one without a bass rig... And I can't DI into the PA as I get the impression it's not the best - the room is local so it's not all bad 😂 I've got until early January to get a cheap (really cheap) bass rig. Stupidly I've blown all my spare cash on a recording setup so can only scrape a small amount. Probably around £200. I've seen loads of local 2x10s that will suffice - Peavey and Laney territory here, but I need a head. Apart from old Peavey stuff is there anything else out there minimum 300 watts that is dirt cheap? Talking around £100 for the amp leaving me £100 for maybe 2 cheap 210 cabs. I'm not going any larger with cheap cabs as don't want to put my back out... Lol... Any ideas would be good. I was supposed to be saving for a Fender Rumble 500 but that is on hold for now. Edited to add - I have a sansamp bass driver so would I be better off with a power amp?
  5. Came back to playing about three months ago after stoppong cor ten years (!!) and have got the bug. Was in a function band for five years previously. Looking for a rock band, nothing too serious. Maybe monthly gigs eventually. My influences are Queen, Gnr, Bon Jovi.
  6. Thanks for both the replies - plenty to think about!!
  7. I'm going to start track recording our rehearsals with a Zoom 24 (8 inputs) and have 3 channels for the drums - we have 2 guitarists and the singer plays occasional guitar too, hence not able to stretch to 4 drum mics. I own a cheapie large condenser Samson C01 and an AKG 170 small condenser. The singer has a spare SM58 I can use... Does anyone have any advice? Was thinking close mic the snare with the 58, AKG on the kick and the large condenser as a mono overhead. If so, where should I place the overhead? Thanks.
  8. Do you reckon postage would be around £5? If so, would you take £25 posted?
  9. I think I need to add that if these had Taylor on the headstock they would be well over £1k. Lovely, special feeling guitars, and if I didn't already have one...glwts

  11. Thanks- I'll put a Rumble on the shortlist...doesn't seem to be loads around second hand though.
  12. So I'm looking for a cheapie setup for a rock band as I've been away from playing for 10 years. Lurking on Gumtree there is an immaculate TE 1153T cab for £100 and I've seen the GP7 on ebay looking like it might go very cheap too. Is the amp likely to be loud enough? I'm thinking I'll need another 8 ohm cab to get full power out of the head. I don't want to spend a lot of cash and this setup looks like it would be under £200...to then spend £150 ish on a matching 2x10? Tbh I'm lost with amps - last time I was in a band I had a Genz-Benz shuttle combo with an svt210av which was awesome.
  13. Yeah I'm having a real hard time finding a comfortable hand position that doesn't end up in blisters...
  14. Maybe it's the way I'm holding my arm but I don't have any picking hand control if I don't anchor?
  15. I'm anchoring with my fingertips of 3 and 4 on the scratchplate but considered sitting on the bridge...but that limits me tonally and tbh I can't get comfortable (playing on a Jazz). But I can't be anchoring much due to the blister!
  16. So I've recently come back to playing after 10 years off. I played 99% of the time fingerstyle as I couldn't get comfortable with a pick, (despite being a guitarist) so coming back to it, I've been playing solely with a pick. I'm playing some aggressive pop-punk Green Day and have developed a blister on my picking hand ring finger outside. What is the accepted best way to play with a pick? Anchor or no anchor? On the guitar I developed a technique where I anchored near the middle pickup to help with muting but that wouldn't work here. On a side note, picking stamina seems to be a thing 😄 On the guitar I used to play softly as it stopped me tensing up and I could play faster, but I've noticed with the Green Day stuff I'm really digging in and I'm thrashing the crap out of the bass. Is this a bad habit i need to stop now? Talking about my playing and not Green Day 🤣
  17. For anyone in the future who searches for this, it was the saddles that had been put back in the wrong order by a previous owner.
  18. Ah I never thought about that. I suppose it's possible. I think I need to take the strings off and have a look.
  19. I've tried taking another photo. To me it looks like the G string is a bit low? But I've no experience with these bridges at all.
