2. Nah, they are spammed all over ebay for £4. I'd love them to be good. I tried some Alice ones once. All had dead G strings.
 3.
Stick the 610 on the 210, just don't plug it in. :B
Put the 2x10 on the 6x10, just run the 2x10 mic it and use the PA. Not Doom.
 4. A sansamp and a cheap PA amp, then dump the rest into a cab might make you and awesome rig at a crazy cheap price. Sansamp will do a generic 'good tone', PA to bring it up to level, and the cab is generally gonna be the weakest link, so is the best thing to invest in. Having put together a totally aweosome 1100w valve preamped beast in a rack for under £250, I think this is a very good way to go. Thinking about it, the 8x10 I could run it into cost me £200, so for under £500 (about that exactly including cables) I have a totally awesomely loud rig there. Overkill for almost anyone. Edit, added a 1000w to power of amp.
 5.
Well, I'm a realist I've only got 300 watts to play with, so I dont think the compact will cut it. I'm looking forward to hearing Shockwave's vintage soon, mind (too big for me, though!)
You totally missed the Compact hitting the House of Bass. It does a surprising amount, Joe was bouncing my floor about with a 100w valve amp. Was running it really dirty though. Easily outdid the Marshall 2x15 by a very large margin.
 6. I think driving your power valves is going to upset things more that not, whether you are using an attenuator, or just being very loud.
 7. Blanks seem easy enough to get. On the internet of in the music shops box of nuts, there are usually loads of blanks cause they are unpopular. I've sawn up a large bone for the butcher and filed a nut before, had a lot of time on my hands due to unemployment.
 8. P bass, 1/4lbers and Ampeg, great tone, guessing dead strings and hard picking also:
 9. Still hoping for a ride to this.

 11. Do they mean the end pin? Guess they are kind of telescopic.
 12.
You want to buy a £50 bass then spend £100 on parts? In the end it'll still be a £50 bass!
With £100 worth of parts that actually make the noise.
 13.
Thanks for all the replies!
Can't say that without telling us what you went for.

 15.
I'd get a Hartke LH500 and Barefaced Compact, I power to weight to value is what you want LH500 - cheap and really really loud Compact - seriously light and great sound
Little over budget there.

 17.
True, there is just something gorgeous about an ampeg rig...
Add some Sunn and it might sound good too.
 18. I'd be after the neck, thats about it though.
 19.
And sorry for being slow, but what do you mean by the play gigs PA systems comment?
Being a user of a/multiple 'Doom rig(s)' I keep getting that 'why bother, just go through the PA' statement. I've played 2 gigs ever where the PA was sufficient to put bass through, such is the way of Doom.
 20.
They're not even plugged in, possibly a statement about bands who have massive doom rigs that are just for show or something.
Bands that can play gigs PA systems are sell outs. Guessing cause its a festival, thats baackline for everyone there, and maybe they don't want to be onstage with a bunch of labels, except for that nice brown Aguilar there.
 21. Vibrations go from the strings to the wood, bounce about a bit and then come back to the strings, the body moves as well as the string. Some stuff like 'tone' can be modifed by pickups and electrickery. Stuff like sustain, not so much.

 23. I have a 4 button latching footswitch with two stereo jack outs on it, post it ya for £15.
 24. Bit more detail on your amp please?
