1. None of that gear had legendary status at the time, they were just guitars. Now they are guitars like The Who used to play.
2. The nicer wood was picked out for the transparent sunburst finishes, so might be something in it if you are into that, more likely to be fewer bits of wood glued together etc.
3. I think stainless steel can still have nickel in it. I do recall elixirs I've seen being the bright colour of nickel rather than the greyish of stainless.
4.
See here
. I think they are desirable, but don't wanna research it right now, when I can't afford anyway.
5. Today's progress was going and buying Nitromors, a brush, a scraper and some marigolds. Plus the bridge arrived (cheers Beer), and it is the same as the original one, without the banana styling. Venue for the nitromors is the next challenge, not got a garden, aside from a concrete strip accessible through a window.
6. Kinda of have a bridge on the way, but a Hipshot might appeal.
7. Does William Murderface still use Eden in the newer episodes?
8. Think so, should be making exchange tomorrow. If it all goes pear shaped/ I see another one, I'll let you know.
9. Go to a model shop and get one of the rubber things for cleaning train tracks.
10.
Definitely a strong stylistic influence going on there - I do like the red quilty one. There's a Schecter as well with a similar close-but-legal look, can't remember what it's called though. J.
Schecter Stargazer:
11. The T series are heading that way. Far from a rick, but close to the one I linked.
12. You can probably do better with a whole new cab. Personally, I'd stick Vintage 30s in it and run it high passed with another cab for the lows.
13. Modern one, looks same as the Wesley ones, wonder if the flame is real.
14.
best bet is to take your bassman in for a full servicing and have all the potentially problem causing components replaced. Will be cheaper.
Surely you mean 'I'll make you one.'?
15. Make him an offer off ebay, then report for copyright infringement, linking whatever he ripped the description from.
16.
Dave, where's your band? No link? Then you've obviously got something to hide like maybe no band?
Since the classic Ampeg sound generally sounds great alone vanishes as soon as some loud electric guitars get involved, figures.
17. I don't get this choosing an amp thing. Real men use all of them at once.
18. I don't think we call is 'burl' in the UK, it's burr.
19. Masking tape extra padding to the extremities, and take off the bottom strap button, that is the bit that gets smacked into the wood when its dropped. In fact, masking tape on interior packing is great, makes the unwrap so much easier.
20. Offers option withdrawn on basis of stupid offers.
21. Would guess warm air will head up upon exit, so that would not be recirculated so easily. Probably best not to mess. Or maybe double up the fans contra rotating, so they can run at half speed or something.
22.
seems to be alot of underlying valve hate in this thread which makes me sad
How's you hybrid rig coming along anyway?
23. Bit of a poke around under the bridge and it appears to have been stripped before painting, so a full on refin is in order. Anyone got suggestions for a gloss finish suitable to do at home? Also, am I gonna have to strip it manually to not melt the binding?
