5 string Jazz?
-
Stafford is my nearest town, not button boon!
-
The body cavity is very poorly shielded which is why they hum, the end pin resonates in the hole when half out which is the worst thing really, the easiest fix is just a chunk of foam behind the bridge to stop the strings playing themselves! Nut needed a little file down and some people have had really bad strings from new, mine are OK as far as I can tell some have had lumps in them! Once the mods are done most folk that have tried all the budget options reckon its the best where the harley benton and similar versions sound better out of the box, an afternoons tinkering and its pretty good. This is my noob thread about it, see the pics at the end for mods http://basschat.co.u...at-have-i-done/ Have you got an elec upright? I know they are a poor mans (womens ) version of a DB but I cant warrant the real deal unless I can play a bit at least, general opinion is that the Stagg is close enough to be able to learn the basics at least, ones with a flat board or super low action are not going to help me play a real brute in future, I have it setup fairly high to not get into that trap
You simply fail to recognize what technique is al about then but hey... Who am I to teach you?
The only thing I can presume is you mean that by my choosing of a simpler style for that band meant I had a better technique? I think most people would class that as dynamics and the technique being the way in which you use your hands to play certain styles, I am certain that If you asked a teacher for lessons on technique it would not involve note choice and style of playing for songs rather they would ask you what technique do you want to improve, slap, finger, pick etc? You have some strong opinions on how good people are and should be can you link us to any of your own work? I asked a few times in this and the other thread and it has been taken as me trying to wind you up but I am deadly serious

Shall we lock this one too?

the end makes me piss myself

Is it time for this yet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pd2pSLFjOas

What do we think of this then, its a bit more than the Thomann one I like but from Yitamusic? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Standard-Model-Carbon-Fiber-Double-Bass-Bow-French-/140358033272?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Sting_Instruments&hash=item20adfd9f78

Bizarre
-
+1 on the French Carbon Fibre bow from YitaMusic, they also do a German model, and similar bows of a slightly lower spec.
I will have another look at those then if there is lower spec version, I really have gas for a nice bow now, terrible isnt it?
-
Jumping straight in at the deep end (only joined forum today) I would say it doesn't really matter whether it is French or German bow, they both do the job but it does depend on which EUB you have. Some really are not suited to being played arco at all, great for that jazz pizz style but almost impossible to get a good sound with the bow. Which EUB do you have?
I went for the Stagg as it is one that can be played arco, I have done all the mods now too except the string swap then it will be awesome
Oh right! Yes, I can see how I misread that...
I got me the first time too

Come on then Inti what should we be listening to and striving for, this is your moment to enlighten us
-
I think he meant 4x10" 6x10" 8x10" speakers not 4 or 6 inch drivers I still dont like 'em laughable or not
-
Panic over that is what I play I'm sure I have a version where the run is even busier for the last run? but if its good enough for Jake I am more than happy! as ever thanks Jake Bloomin' ledger lines, that really is the dusty end D#
-
Thats the bit I have never really got around too I think it was off your site that I printed it from (thanks), I learnt the easier run from the first couple of times and left it at that I shall return..........
Are you shure about this or does envy and lack of humbleness come from the other side? I certainly have issues with this but it has to do with a strong sence of justice so stop talking about papers cause nobody cares except those who lack diplomas. The main point is that putting Anthony Jackson and John entwinstle in the same bag simply isn't fair. But this society makes you believe it is... For money's sake.
In fairness you know nothing about me or my skill level, trust me I am not envious of you, I dont even know who you are
laughable post.... can't begin to...well, I can't stop laughing....
Whats laughable? I dont like 10's either, I used to be all about 15's but I have come to a happy medium of 12's (like a lot of folk), I bet the 12's of today are better than the 15's of 25 years ago anyway? You get a bit of that trouser flap that a 15 or more gives but with that snappier attack when required that 10's give. Now I know Mr F and Alex etc will be along to tell us thats all nonsense and they have some drawing to prove it but as bass players we all hear what we hear and for me and many others the bigger the speaker the bigger the bottom end! 8x10's for me sound like 8 10's never like one big speaker as suggested elsewhere
-
I doubt he was better than you technically if the others prefer you. The only way to know would have been to make the both of you play the same line. Plus that technique without a brain is pretty useless anyway...
Why? , I have been in similar situations where the rest of the band preffered my simpler style over people who were both more technical and up on their theory etc.
There's absolutely no problem in wanting to be an entertainer. The irritating moment begins when the clown not only fools himself but tries to convince others of his artistic integrity.
You appear to have a personal issue with this looking at this thread and your other, as if you have some bits of paper with grades on and everyone else is an imposter or something, I am sure there is more to this?
-
Nobody and that's partly the problem. Hence gangnam style is the most played tune on the radio right now.
I'm not keen on crap like that but I have found the off switch I dont see him demanding we like gangnam style anyway?

But if someone is creating something new who decides if its right or not?
