2. For me it was no particular player or group, it was the bass lines in the range of music I listened to that always caught my ear though. I dabbled in guitar but never really got anywhere then one day I got a bass just on a whim & never looked back. Like Mr Fretbuzz I spend all my spare time "reading, listening, learning & playing bass."

 4.
Is it usual to have a concrete floor when you're upstairs?
Purpose built flats/apartments will have concrete floors on all levels to comply with fire regs etc.
 5. These look well engineered: http://www.dv247.com/studio-equipment/quik-lok-qf-413--34729
 6. How Long by Ace was one bass line I took notice of in my youth, still one of the pieces I stop to listen to whenever I hear it.
 7. Being able to listen to the tracks on a CD is a great help I find. Could these be put on your website?
 8. I have Elixir strings on the couple of bass's fitted when new, after nearly a year now the coating has begun to wear off leaving what looks like fluff caught in the string windings. Is this usual?
 9. Vaseline Knob A local reporter was interviewing locals about the various uses of vaseline. He knocked on a door, and a man answered in his bathrobe. "Sir, could you tell me what you use vaseline for?" "Hmm...well, dry lips, dry skin, and, of course, sex." "Sex?" "Well, me and the missus put a little vaseline on the doorknob..." "Yeah?" "It keeps the kids out."
 10.
Greetings from Kilburn, just outside of Thirsk.... another North Yorkshire rural backwater )
Watch out for the mice......:-)
 11. Promenade Music in Morcambe http://www.promenademusic.co.uk/guitars/bass-guitars Great selection of bass's & a day at the seaside.....
 12.
I used work making stained glass windows. I used to have cuts on the tips of my fingers at times. The best remedy by far was superglue. Was too painful sliding up a sweaty strings at gigs without it.
Thats my line of work & I can vouch for cuts on tips of fingers as you describe. Cuts always seem to be just where the strings make contact.....
 13.
Not on the Wilkinson Bridge I've fitted to my Precision Lyte, but apparently some different types get a bit more sustain when strung through the anchor points. (More string contact, perhaps?)
Thanks. The Peavey Grind I have has strings fitted through the anchor points at the moment which is how I got it. I'll be replacing the strings shortly. This bass has the mono rail bridge(s).
 14. Just a thought along this thread. Does it make any difference to string tone/sound when you can fix the ball end of the string directly in the bridge or through the anchor point on the back of the bass for those bass's that have that option?
 15.
..or each bass stands for a happy and fullfilled year of love with her^^
lol, I can have 25 then
 16.
That sir, is fantastic.
And NO batteries needed!
 17. Where abouts are you?
Bump!
18.
Hi folks - I'm in Crook, Co. Durham and I'd prefer to deliver/meet in person somewhere rather than post, but could sort it out if needed. How about sort of in the middle of 120 and 200, £160 ono? Cheers, Tom
Any pics of the bass?
 19. You could get one of these energy monitors from Maplin http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=38343 This will give you the voltage that the supply/generator is giving, should be around the 230v / 240v if its down to say 200v (this would be a bad case) then you will get the probs that you had at the gig.
 20. I got a bass as an impulse buy a few weeks ago, wish I'd done that years ago!!! One of Gear4musics own label which I think is fine for a newby like myself. I ordered a Fender Rumble combo which is on its way to me as I type. Picking up a few riffs, songs so far are U2 - With or Without You, Bob Marley - Jammin, Booker T - Time is Tight, Ace - How Long (TAB sent to me by a BC'er here, thanks Steve)
 21. I'm using YouTube & many of the excellent bass teaching videos there. Is there a way I can download videos on YouTube to my PC & then use another program to loop sections for learning? Thanks in advance.
