3. Hi folks - I'm in Crook, Co. Durham and I'd prefer to deliver/meet in person somewhere rather than post, but could sort it out if needed. How about sort of in the middle of 120 and 200, £160 ono? Cheers, Tom
4. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=1136 Same as that...offers? Great bass, sounds and plays fantastic, looks great, and got hellish reviews when they came out. Only problem (not really a problem but worth mentioning) is that the battery cover is missing - spookily, the same as the one on basschat! 6. Hi, whereabouts are you based? Interested in the F1...cheers! If you could e-mail me at [email protected] that'd be great!
7. Btw - one of Zal's more recent guitars (a Tele/Strat copy style) was sold for over £3000 recently...had a couple of offers for this but nothing in the right ballpark. Swaps are welcome!
8.
Now if this was a Zal Cleminson SAHB SG I would be biting your arm off, lol. Looks really nice nevertheless
He might bite someone's arm off for that old SG too! Got nicked years back, 1974 or something...though think he's still got a Black SG Standard...
9. Here's a really special guitar, and a piece of history too! This guitar was built in 1977 (Oct 1977 stamped into the headstock) for Chris Glen of (at that time) The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. It was then used by Zal Cleminson with SAHB on the Fourplay tour, and also with Nazareth when he joined them. It is viewable on youtube if you type in 'Nazareth Whatever You Want Babe'. I bought the guitar a little under two years ago, and unfortunately when I recieved it, the headstock (like many Explorer style guitars) had a crack, which was not mentioned when I bought the instrument. It was also in an old (and I suspect original) shabby case, with an old white coily cable in there too. I had the headstock crack repaired by Nigel Stockbridge in Richmond, who has fixed a few things up for me, and is highly reccomended, his work is fantastic. We also decided to run a small aluminium strip along the back of the machineheads, strengthening the headstock further - come to think of it, people pay good money for those small metal attachments to headstocks to 'increase sustain', so I suppose this is a sustain enhancing feature too...anyway. I also bought a brand new ABS moulded case for the guitar which cost a good £90. BOTH CASES ARE INCLUDED WITH THIS SALE, INCLUDING THE COILY LEAD THAT WAS IN THE OLD CASE. The guitar itself, then. The neck pickup is a P90, which I've had looked at, and it looks to be a Gibson pickup, most likely taken from a mid 60's SG Special or similar. The bridge pickup is an early Dimarzio Dual-Sound (which is coil-splittable via the small toggle on the pickguard). Mahogany body and neck, ebony fretboard with trapezoid inlays. The binding is all in fantastic shape, as is the pickguard. In short, the guitar is ALL ORIGINAL, like the day it left Dick Knight's hands when it was made. For anyone not in the know about Dick Knight/Knight Guitars work, check out www.knight-guitars.com - one of the greatest luthiers of all time, with some interesting endorsements too. The company itself, still ran by Dick's son, is still making phenomenal guitars. A fantastic playing and sounding guitar, and obviously it looks amazing too! I have gigged the guitar a few times, where it's always sounded out of this world, and turned a good few heads, guitar experts and non-musicians. But it has spent most of it's time with me just sitting looking pretty, ha! I've been in touch with Knight Guitars and had a good bit chat about this instrument, and it's value. After this little chat, I've decided to ask for £1,600 for the guitar (including the old case, the new case, and the coily cable - the most important bit, ha!). I may still be interested in trades, or deals involving other instruments. If you want any more pics, have any questions, or want to discuss buying, give me an e-mail at [email protected] Cheers, Tom
10. Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me by suggesting an approximate value of the following bass guitars - unfortunately I don't have any pics as yet, but will try and sort a couple out. Neither are with me at present. The first is an Epiphone Rivoli. I've dated it via the serial number and it's from 1955, and on the little sticker inside the body (from what I can make out) it says 'Style BBV 232' Not sure what the significance of that is? Nothing has been changed, the bass is in original condition. The second is a Burns 'Albino' Bison Bass, dated 1963. The top horn where the strap lock is located had a snap/crack years ago, and was held for many year crudely with a nail but is now repaired and looks great. All the electronics are original, one of the tuners is a replacement. If anyone could give a rough guide, it would be very much appreciated! Also, if you could e-mail [email protected] with any info, that would be great also. Thanks a lot everyone, Tom
11. Great amp, but need the funds at the moment, and I'm using a Cornford Hurricane 1x12, through a 2x12 ext. cab for gigging at the moment, which I'm really happy with, so this poor thing needs to go :/ My fave Marshall amp, never got on with another one to be honest, but love this. 60w, all valve, reverb, two channels, FX loops (series AND parallel!), and a really nice looking thing too! Oh and nice and light, not too heavy at all. 50's rock 'n' roll, jazz, surf, blues, classic rock, heavier rock, even metal if you desire and have high output p/ups! Recently had a FULL service and revalve so is as good as it'll ever be, the service alone cost me £100! I'm based in the North East UK (Crook, Co. Durham) - pickup would be preferred, but if not I could sort something out - obviously a try out before buying would be fine too. I'm after £340 ONO - an absolute bargain, considering the service it's just had, and the price of a TSL combo in comparison! (the above isn't my actual amp, though it is in exactly the same cosmetic condition) Contact [email protected] if interested! Cheers, Tom
12. Possibly interested here...hmmm...just need to offload a couple of things first, I'll be in touch when they go/if nothing else crops up.
13. Need to think about this a wee bit more, perhaps...but I quite fancy an old Special or even a Junior, or just something else. Dunno why but it just doesn't seem to 'suit' me really. Obviously it's a fecking awesome guitar though, AND investment as well. Just seems strange that I'm a Strat player really, and the 'holy grail' of my collection is an SG! Oh and it's been used on stage with Tony McPhee and the Groundhogs too... Open to sensible offers/trades/deals, anything really. Bit more info about it anyway, it's a player's guitar hence I won't get £8,000 for it... Tuners were replaced 'back in the day' with Grover Rotos - the 'original' Rotos were sold, so I fitted a brand new set. P/ups are now Bareknuckle PG Blues. The Maestro trem arm was missing so fitted a new one, which is now suitably worn along with the rest of the unit, looks great - the trem itself is original. It was refinished 'back in the day' in Cherry Red, a great job and it's aged nicely, surprise surprise! There was a crack (not a break) at the bottom of the neck in the mid-90's, which was repaired by Nigel Stockbridge, as per usual an excellent job, you can't even see the crack anymore, and it's stronger than ever. Bits 'n' bobs - the wiring and knobs are new, the p/up rings are the original ones. Truss rod cover the original one. Original frets with loads of life left. Send me an e-mail to [[email protected]][email protected] if you're interested - not a PM on here, as I don't get notified of them for some reason, so might miss the message. Cheers, Tom
