Moving to be with my girlfriend Colin! Family live up in Skipton too so will be nice to be closer to them again. Hope all's well.

Moving to be with my girlfriend, Colin.

Does it even work if I use a comma? I'm not sure it does!

Colin, I'm moving to be with my girlfriend. That works better. Ha ha!!

Thanks for the tips guys, I've emailed Keith and he replied quickly and his prices compete favourably with what I've been used to. It'll be good to have a good service in the local area.

Paul Carroll at Crash Studios (top notch rehearsal gaff) has been a touring tech for all kinds, including jaunts round the world with Echo & The Bunnymen, and is very handy with set-ups/repairs/demon guitar playing - he's also in my band, and sorts all our guitars out, so I can vouch first hand for his work. Top bloke all round!
I can second that. I worked for Keith and can say that his work is of a very high standard.

By the way, his workshop is located in Birkenhead.
He must be good and therefore busy... he said I'd be be without my bass for a week to ten days....

Take a gander down at the Pacific Rd Arts Centre. You'll find his funny little shop is always a hive of activity, although I think the 10 days quote is just to cover his backside in case things get ultra busy. I was told it might be ready in 4... or at the worst 10 days. A g*itarist friend recently explained he needed a setup on a brand new instrument days before an important gig, and subsequently got it with hours to spare... but ended up taking it back after the gig because as he thrashed away, the E string kept jumping out of it's saddle and after the first song had to resort to his back up.
I've heard some people swear by KGB as a whole, everybody praise Keith's work personally, whilst some people have expressed disappointment at work completed by others in his employ. Apologies to anyone who might be reading this thread in KGB's employ, that's only an opinion that's been expressed to me. I personally have yet to use them, but intend to in the near future.

KGB are ok but they're prices are way over the top imo. (they once quoted me £250 to fret a fretless neck!!!)
This guy ,though a guitar maker is VERY reasonably priced and makes very nice instruments too (normally parlour guitars etc.) http://www.mjbluthier.co.uk/

 • 1 month later...

Sent my Jazz to KGB last week with a new set of Deep Talkin flats for a set up. Got my bass back after ten long, long days and it's playing very nicely.
Well worth the thirty squids. :)
