BottomEndian Posted November 14, 2009 Share Posted November 14, 2009 A quick Google shows that the only people doing Ashbory string sets in the UK are stringsdirect.co.uk, and they're out of stock (delivery 6-8 weeks ). I know there's at least one guy doing replacement silicone for G and D strings, but I've snapped my E and I thought it might be useful to get a full set, so I've got spares in future. BassBod Posted November 16, 2009 Share Posted November 16, 2009 Its worth contacting Nigel Thornbury (luthier and co-designer of the Ashbory). Yonks ago when I had one of the Guild versions he supplied some blue strings which were tougher than the clear ones. I think it was what they used on the second longer-scale version, that hasn't been revived by Fender as it was never distributed in America. I like them so far, but I've never been long enough with an Ashbory to be able to compare. I know someone, somewhere, is selling ashbory strings by the metre (or something similar).
