why use an EQ pedal....

It can be useful. Passive P bass, MXR 80, one stomp to add some mids, 2nd to add some distortion etc. Although I except that the MXR is more than just EQ.

On the Status last night the boost/flat/cut mid switch was doing a great job in that respect too.

On top of my mind I can think to a few cases:

- Change EQ between fingerstyle and slap.
- Tone control of the amp doesn't have the cut off frequencies that I like/need
- Portable EQ solution
- Change tone and volume between basses (e.g. active/passive, fretted/fretless)
- Buffer for connection to a recording device
- Booster to saturate an amp or an overdrive
- Post/post-distortion equalization
- ...
