dunetune_jazz
I saw Avi last year and we had a good chat and the guy is simply amazing and humble. He was playing with the Avishai Cohen Trio. If you have a desire to get into stand-up bass, say no more unless your Ray Brown. We got a talking and I asked him about some of the bass players today and he was very modest....loves Mr Wootens stuff. Avi is truely a great bass champion. I would highly recommend anyone going to see him when he is back over here. retrohelix
Sorry all, instead of creating a new thread, I thought I'd rehash this one. Using the search feature, it's strange to see how little love there is for Avishai Cohen, one of the true bass geniuses IMO. In a way, it's my personal version of easy listening... there's nothing "easy listening" about simple and boring, for me at least.
Tech
Yeah what an incredible and underrated talent. The whole of the "Seven Seas" album is outstanding, very much my kind of thing. I know there are a few Esbjorn Svensson fans on the forum, I urge them all to give Avishai a good listen.
Blademan_98
I see from his website he is playing Ronnie Scotts in November this year for three nights! Might be worth a trip to the capital
geoffbassist
His trios gently disturbed album is amazing! A real gem.
ZMech
Yup, absolutely love avishai. His trio is easily my favourite modern jazz band, as well as one of my favourite bassists. Currently stealing the main chords from Nu Nu for a song

He might be underrated on Basschat possibly, But out in the big world, highly thought of. I will pop down to Ronnie's in November for sure. urb
He's at Ronnie's Scott's for three nights in November: http://www.ronniescotts.co.uk/performances...ohen-seven-seas I had the pleasure of interviewing him a few months back - top man, cool guy, incredible bassist/composer - he's killing it live too - I have to be at these gigs!
