I have an even increased level of respect for my local Huntingdon shop after visiting Peach. I picked out a MIM jazz to try and the setup was unplayable. Action was super high…I don’t think anything had been done with the truss rod. I guess I don’t mind all the security measures, but, having been told all the basses had been set up, I was disappointed, and won’t be back. 5 minutes with the proper tools would have made all the difference. Not the case ever at Music Street. It’s a lot smaller shop but stocks good kit that is always ready to play.

I've never liked Peach. It's my #2 least favourite retailer in the sector.

Staff attitude stinks in my experience.

It’s a shame as I think their website is very good, with details such as the weight of each individual instrument of a certain brand/range. Their demos are pretty good too.

Not really set up for hands on retail though:::

I bought a guitar from Peach and it was a perfectly satisfactory experience. They provided me with 3 different instruments to try and a room away from electric guitar noise, and all 3 instruments were properly set up. Huntingdon is an extra 2 hours round trip and its hard to see what value they would have added.

They are local to me and that is a real plus. Glad you had a good experience…I won’t be back for anything serious

I purchased guitars and basses from Peach as I’m not far from Colchester. Their way of selling now ( appointment only visits ) was due to theft from the shop of high end PRS guitars where a couple walked in took them off the rack under their coats and walked out !!
They are a decent bunch but their bass amp selection and stock is woeful. The store is like a western saloon and it’s a cool experience with personal attention and help. I think they are a decent store especially for guitars and guitar amps ( high end )

It would have been interesting to know if it was just that particular bass. Did you try another one? I've been there a few times and found the basses I tried generally quite playable.I'm not feeling the appointment only process they have in place now but I do understand why for security purposes.
