But, being the aging, grumpy, muso that I am, I'll quite happily continue listening to more Beatles and Floyd outtakes and re-releases for my musical entertainment.... That said, it does seem to have become quite political in recent years, which is an unexpected and interesting development. There’s space for everyone on this earth. I can’t say I enjoy Eurovision (but not Dino listen to Floyd or the Beatles much anymore, if ever). 1 Quote
Musicman666 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago it's good to field an artist that strikes the right balance..that says here is something interesting and representative without taking it all too seriously ...i think this guy is a good candidate for that. 1 Quote
Misdee Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I've just been trying to find the song on YouTube. Looks like there isn't one yet. From what I can see he's essentially a Howard Jones for the smashed avocado and oat milk latte generation. I suppose with the right song he's got as good a chance as anybody. Quote

Not sure what generation that is exactly, since round here I probably see as many if not more Gen Xers having those choices as Millennials/Zs! But IMO he's a really interesting choice - someone who merges music with hacking culture and has a popular 'new media' presence. Offers interesting possibilities for documenting development of a song/performance over social media which would be a very novel way of engaging people in the build-up, especially if followers can interact with the process. He's someone who I think retains something of the earlier DIY, anarchic spirit of pre-google YouTube in a positive way. Quote
Al Nico Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) I'm really pleased for him. I was really interested in his project to rebuild a church organ in the museum, which is a massive undertaking. Nothing worked well to start with. Then he automated it with MIDI. He was able to send MIDI that make it talk, there abouts. Brilliant. I'm surprised at the choice too since he's not particularly about himself as a pop star. He's a fun character, and very talented. I wish him every success. Edited 1 hour ago by Al Nico Quote

Mediocre Polymath Posted 10 minutes ago Posted 10 minutes ago This news nearly made me spit-take my coffee this morning. I've dealt with Sam a few times on work related things, and can confirm that his online persona is pretty much just him – hyperactive, endlessly interested in everything and insanely quick to grasp extremely complicated ideas.
