Chris Maury Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Hi Everyone - A big HELLO from California! I was involved in the bass community in the 80's & 90's as the former national sales manager for Trace Elliot and Status, manager of The Bass Centre in L.A. from '86-'93 & was the Trace Elliot and Hamer product specialist for the western U.S. from '93-'97. For the last few years I've been creating YouTube videos about rare Rickenbacker basses (the 4005 & 4002,) and recently posted the video "The 80's Bass Decade!" which is a comprehensive look at why the 80's decade was so special for bass players. Im glad to be here! Chris 2 Quote

Thanks All! I agree, the Trace stuff isn't new and neither am I.😉 Great stuff though! Mark IV gear was the first batch of TE brought into the U.S. for distribution. Lots of good times and happy customers. Quote

Lots of fond memories from those days, most of which was managing The Bass Centre in L.A. We certainly enjoyed the "London/Los Angeles" tag line which contributed to both stores being the hub of all things bass at the time for all levels of bass players, not just celebrities. I'm so grateful that I met Alan Morgan early in 1985 when he moved to the U.S., and had the opportunity to work with him for 8 years. It was an honor to be associated with Fred Friedlein, Barry Moorhouse, Rob Green, Mark Gooday, Trevor Cash and dozens of others over the years. Good times indeed.😀 1 1 Quote
ped Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Great video! I really enjoyed that. Quite a trip down memory lane - although I just caught the tail end of the 80s, it was the 80s bass mindset that characterised the way I thought about gear for a long time. Glad to see lots of Vigiers in your video. 1 Quote

It was such an amazing era, I was compelled to tell the story (I'd love to hear other 80's bass experience stories from all over the world.) 😀 Yep, Vigier is definitely a significant piece in the story. I always enjoyed seeing Patrice and Lina at NAMM back in the day. Great basses, killer tone, feel and lightweight! BTW, I'm currently working on my next video, which is a series about The Bass Centre in L.A. The first video will be the origin story which (of course) begins in England and includes Trace Elliot, The Bass Centre in London and SO much more! Edited 3 hours ago by Chris Maury 2 Quote

SpondonBassed Posted 21 minutes ago Posted 21 minutes ago Yes, I'm just being mischievous. If you were curious you could do a search for his content but it has no TE specific relevance, more a sense of a chap with an enormous chip on his shoulder. I wouldn't recommend it. Quote
