Has anyone owned both of these Orange amps ?

I have the Little Bass Thing and used it at rehearsals yesterday into a MarkBass MB58R 122 8 ohm cab so I guess seeing half power

OMG was it loud and plenty of grunt albeit more clean than the OTB

Is the Terror bass head equally as loud ?? Obviously more gritty but as loud ?

My terror bass is incredibly loud, play in a very loud band and it’s never been above half.

I went up to half on mine at rehearsal once.

Nearly had a brown trouser moment.

I've not tried the v2 but I had the v1 for a while and I found I couldn't dial in the sound I wanted at a low enough volume, it was just far too much for me and I went back to my markbass f1, I've now swapped to a eich t-900 and even though it's supposed to be nearly double the watts it's still easier to dial in my sound.

I really wanted to love it but I guess I'm just not an orange amp person.

I tried one a few years back but I was a finger style player and it sounded dark

I’m now a pick player playing rock on a PBass so I think the dark tone will come alive with a pick and at volume

I had the Eich T900 and it’s a great amp

I think getting to grips with the tone stack is a big thing with these, when I had one I couldn’t get anything from it that I liked, turns out I just didn’t know about the way it was set up. I’ve used them since and now - thanks to Basschat - I understand them it’s easy enough to get great sounds, especially with a pick.

I wonder if the 500 watt class D power amps are the same in these two heads? The Terror Bass v2 is Orange proprietary design using through hole ( i.e., no SMT) technology. I was surprised to see that when I opened mine (top photo), but it may make repairs slightly easier for techs without SMT capabilities.

Just been confirmed that the LBT and the Terror v2 share the same output stage. Both equally loud amps for 500w heads

I was unsure because the LBT looks much smaller in photos.

I think the Terror bass case has a lot of free space under the hood and has two tubes part of the pre amp and fx loop circuits.

Both are great amps in their own right and sound similar although the TB goes one step further in the drive sound. LBT has active  EQ with parametric mids and the optical compressor which drives the amp harder too.
TB EQ control catches many out as 12 o clock isn’t flat, far from it

I also wonder if the Orange 500 watt class D is perhaps under specified and delivers more than some other amps advertised as 500 watts? It wouldn't surprise me as Orange designed this unit specifically for bass amps.

Yes I think I read it’s closer to 625W approx under test.

In general I am not a fan of passive tone stacks, much prefering active EQ sections. However, much like the AD200, the TB sounds so good at close to flat settings, the EQ can stay where it is almost all the time.
