binky_bass Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Anyone heard of Aristides guitars? I first came across them when I went to see Caligula's Horse play at the beginning of last year. Sam Vallen wasn't playing his usual Musicman JP7 and had this incredible looking/sounding red sparkle thing... T'was an Aristides. These thing have really piqued my interest, they've just made a 6 string bass, it looks pretty tasty. Their build technique is really interesting too, worth a look! Also, the things they build are quite out there! The below is a 9 string, headless, fanned, fretless guitar! And this, the 6 string bass I mentioned. Cool stuff indeed. Darkglass preamp with 3 Nordstrand fatstacks, now that has to sound savage! Edited 6 hours ago by binky_bass 4 Quote
Hellzero Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago And their prices are even very decent for such interesting instruments (just check how the body is made). Thanks for sharing, Russ! 😊 https://aristidesinstruments.com/ 1 Quote
LowB_FTW Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago These have been all over my Fb feed for ages. I really haven't see anything that made me sit up and go 'wow'. They did custom TRON and Spider-Man paint jobs which I liked. They do have some very nice finishes. Mark Quote
velvetkevorkian Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Their 7/8 string guitars are pretty popular with the progressive/technical metal crowd. Not sure I'd seen the basses before though. Quote
LowB_FTW Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I tried to find the Spider-Man paint job, but failed, so perhaps I either imagined it or just mis-remembered, but yeah, that TRON paint job was pretty nice I thought. Mark Quote
Hellzero Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago That said, owning this means that I'm easy to convince about Aristides instruments... 1 Quote

Wolfram Posted 55 minutes ago Posted 55 minutes ago I looked at Astrides when I needed a new 7 string electric guitar. I'd written some pieces with a 7 string Strandberg but really didn't get on with the trapezoid neck profile and never bonded with the guitar. In the end I chose a Music Man Kaizen 7 string, which has a lovely neck profile and fantastic versatile tone (I play 7 string melodic fingerstyle, generally clean so not metal at all!). Would still love to try an Astrides sometime. Quote
