Woody1957 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I have a budget of around £1500, so which model, new or used would you recommend please. I've never played a Spector before so I don't know a lot about them. My search for a Warwick Streamer LX 5 that I missed out on a couple of years ago on here are very hard to find unfortunately. Thanks in advance, Woody. Quote
binky_bass Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago A used Spector Euro 5LX would be a good shout... Unless you're exceptionally lucky to find a US one for that price! (Did once buy a US 5 for £500...) I've owed a fair few Euro and US Spectors and as utterly lovely the US ones are, there really is not a huge amount of difference between them and a Euro ones. @cetera is your man for all things Spector! Would definitely recommend used... New Euros are crazy money these days (US ones require a mortgage). 1 1 Quote
cetera Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago A used Euro 5LX would be your best shout for proper classic Spector looks and tone. Necks can be a little chunky though so be sure it's your thing... new ones are £2.5k+ but used should be between £1400-£1800. This is a beauty that deserves a good offer: The best value for money though would probably be a Pulse II 5-string. You can get a new one for approx £1200 (e.g. https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/spector-ns-pulse-ii-5-ultra-violet-matte/ or https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/spector-ns-pulse-ii-5-black-cherry-matte/) and a used one for under £900. The neck on this is a beautiful satin smooth roasted maple with an ebony board. If you don't like the preamp just upgrade to an LHZ preamp (https://lhzpreampshop.com/products/lhz04preamp) and use the code 'GARYPB' at checkout for 10% off! 1 Quote
MichaelDean Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago For £869, I'm really enjoying my new NS Icon 5. It's a lovely bass at that price and definitley has the Spector DNA in it even if it isn't totally traditional electronics wise. I feel like a used Euro would be a safe bet too. I played some 4 string Euros at a bass bash and they were very well put together. Quote
Sean Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I know someone selling this... It’ll need an offer. Gary is spot on with that price range. 3 1 Quote
