danbanbass Posted Tuesday at 14:26 Posted Tuesday at 14:26 Hi everyone, I’m looking for some bass strings, preferably 45-105 hex core, I’ve been a fan of Stainless steel round wounds. I was a big fan of DR DDT strings but the price of these are astronomical in my eyes. I got a deal on Warwick red label strings which I use for gigging purposes and last alright but will be heading to the studio in Jan so want to use some nice strings for then. I like strings that keep their zing and don’t dull down very quickly so any advice would be great. Cheers. Quote
HeadlessBassist Posted Tuesday at 19:39 Posted Tuesday at 19:39 The Nanoweb coated Nickel Elixirs are the ones I mainly use. I change them once a year, usually after 30-40 two hour live shows. Also, the 40-95 set are really comfortable to play, very bendable, but still with good string tension and no loss of tone. Quote
Skybone Posted Tuesday at 22:11 Posted Tuesday at 22:11 Warwick Red's are a good set of strings for very little money, used to use them for a while, then tried some others which just sounded better. Elites Stadium Steels used to be pretty good, and are reasonably priced. Current faves are D'Addario Pro Steels, but they aren't cheap. Amazon have a 4 string set for around £28-29, where bizarrely, a 5 string set is £26. IMO, they consistently sound great, and last for months. 1 Quote
Geek99 Posted Tuesday at 22:46 Posted Tuesday at 22:46 (edited) I like Warwick reds as well, but would refer you to Coban strings on Amazon. Cheap as chips and very much punch above their weight here you go : 2 sets for £16. 45-105 What’s not to like? https://amzn.eu/d/5Zetgjw Edited Tuesday at 22:49 by Geek99 1 Quote

Been using Foundations since 2018 and they're fantastic. https://amzn.eu/d/aRtvKOg Edited 3 hours ago by Supernaut 1 Quote
