tauzero Posted November 17 Posted November 17 I bought a couple of what were supposedly Hercules GSP38WB Plus wall hangers off Ebay - they were slightly cheaper than buying off Amazon and I'm not putting money into Jeff Bezos's insatiable pockets. However, when they arrived, they turned out to be Chinese copies [1] called Galux GH-110W. Very similar to the Hercules ones but I don't know how trustworthy they are. As the Aliexpress listing for them says they're "zinc alloy", I feel quite disinclined to hang anything heavy or valuable from them. [1] I'm aware that the Hercules ones themselves are probably made in China Quote

Obrienp Posted November 17 Posted November 17 What @neepheid said. I have found that genuine Hercules products are not as reliable as they used to be but trusting a knock-off seems a step too far. Quote

That's what I'm doing - looking closely at the photos which should show whether it's genuine (the photos on the fake one show what you're getting but I was just going off the auction title, not realising there were fakes going around). 1 Quote
NancyJohnson Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Always find it weird reading these threads where someone takes this moral stance and says they're not going to purchase through <insert site here>, then buys through eBay/AliExpress and doesn't get the product described. It's eBay/AliExpress/etc. Honestly, life's too short. Whether you like Amazon or not, it's generally a one stop shop. Convenient, generally cheaper and quick. My old employer sold into them extensively; if you're buying direct (and not using a third party seller, you're pretty much assured you're getting as genuine a product as possible. Quote

prowla Posted 25 minutes ago Posted 25 minutes ago Well, if you buy off Aliexpress you do have to keep your wits about you and I certainly don't believe the branded products for sale there are genuine. However, with eBay you pay a buyer's premium (sorry, "Protection Fee"); I'd raise a dispute, citing them bein fake/not as described. Similarly, if you buy something on Amazon and a fake turns up then there's recourse by contacting their CS via chat/callback. As for Hercules wall hangers, I think there were issues with them a while back and I wouldn't have them anyway. That said, they are often used in shops. Quote
