How do you change a thumbnail on a for sale ad?

Hi,

 

I've got an amp in the for sale section, typically the least useful picture is showing as the thumbnail and not matter what I do to change it, it won't change! 

 

Anyone know how to actually change thumbnails to one that you actually want to display?

you don't, it just automatically picks the first picture you uploaded

Even with having removed that picture, it still remained...

 

Is this then a question of closing down the ad and starting all over again to then upload the one you want displayed as a thumbnail first?

 

Is there no ability that could be built in to allow for a user to change the thumbnail?

 

Or does a mod have the to do it?

I know, that is what I meant - it uses the first picture you upload, there is no mechanism to change that after the fact.

As far as I can see it would have to be manually edited to work, but I have never done it or looked at what needs to be done, I would imagine that in some way it would be a faff.

More or less of a faff than deleting the entire thread and recreating it with the correct picture loaded first? I have absolutely no coding knowledge, but I would have thought that this locked process of the first picture you upload being the thumbnail with zero ability to amend would be a process that could be changed to allow for a seller to pick the thumbnail they want to display?

one oddness is if you post the thread without pics and subsequently add them to the thread by editing the software does not add a thumbnail, as I found with a couple of listings recently

I've just added it for ye. Basically if you don't want the first image you need to download the image you want to use then manually upload it as the thumbnail, which I'm not sure a regular user can do themselves.

Transfer of faff - in one case it is you doing it, in the other case is someone else doing it!

It probably could but it is a free plugin that we didn't write that does it.
