Woodinblack Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Well mine turned up today, and it is certainly the best pitch shift pedal I have used but obviously not perfect. It is really good from just above low E, but my use case is doing Drop D and lowering it down to either drop B or drop C. The D has a slight delay, where it starts a little higher and comes down - its really subtle but you can tell the difference between playing a real B and a D dropped to a B, because of this initial drop. Maybe it is the bass I am using, I will try another one later, that one has a little knackered string. Actually i have a practice tomorrow with the group that I do the drop B/C songs with, so I will see how it goes then 1 Quote
Woodinblack Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Used it tonight in anger, and the warble is not so much of an issue in a band setting. But I used it on battery, and it cut out after about 2 hours! Remember, don't use it on battery! In contrast the ME-90B runs on 4AA batteries for days. 1 Quote
bassbora Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Very curious about the XS-1 pedal. Mostly to just change key, up or down 1-2 steps and nothing more than that. How are you guys finding it? I does it cope in a band setting? Quote

How are you guys finding it? I does it cope in a band setting? Yes, it's the best performing pitch shifter I have ever tried, and I've owned 3. It copes admirably in a band setting - I use mine all the time. Not only for those requests to play a song in a different key, but I also use the octave up blended in with overdrive for a bit of "fake guitar" action sometimes. I've pushed it as low as -3 live and it's been decent, eminently useable. 2 Quote

I wouldn't record a drop D bass downtuned by 3 semitones, but in a band it is not an issue. It is really good when you are doing a song and the singer wants to knock it down a couple of semitones. There are some songs that it is easy enough on a 5 string, but if it is a song in drop D (like most of the metal songs), it is a pain without this. 1 Quote
Woodinblack Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Yes. Some pedals come with a dose of regret or a realisation that you don't really need one (mostly synth pedals), but some are pretty essential. 1 Quote
bassbora Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I was looking at this pedal more like a functional tool rather than a box that makes sounds. Quote
