FS/FT Ashdown Drophead 200 flip-top combo (will sell head and cab separately) - *SOLD* £750 Whitstable

I listed this for sale a few months back, got cold feet and withdrew it, but having not used it for almost 6-months I could use both the cash and the space

 

As I said in the previous thread, describing this monster as a combo is like describing Live at Leeds as a gig, but both are technically correct! This to me is the dream unit for a studio where a classic but powerful all tube bass amp is needed, for a gigging player who doesn't mind humping around what is a pretty heavy unit (I keep the head in a separate case to reduce the weight), or for the home music room assuming you don't have neighbours......

 

Tone is glorious as you'd expect.

Thanks mate, it really is a lovely thing, I'll be gigging DB again next year and am buying back my old Mesa Walkabout 15 with that in mind (the WA worked really well for upright and a combo is so much easier if you've also got a 4/4 in the back of the car), and much as I'd love to keep this even I can't justify three large rigs, the WA will do great for DB and smaller gigs, and my M-Pulse with 115/106 for the bigger ones. I'll miss it's lovely edge of breakup tone, I'll miss all that chrome, and I'll miss the inevitable queue of musos at gigs asking about it (and our drummer making jokes about making toast), but c'est la vie

Hi Mark, no this is neither small or light, sorry. I’ll see if I can get a weight from Ashdown, but in all honesty - much like an SVT - if you need to know the weight, this probably isn’t the unit for you 😕

I've given this some thought and am happy to split the head and cab, it's not ideal, but then it's not ideal having this stuff sitting around unused and not paying for its keep so to speak.

 

I think £600 ono for the head and £200 ono for the cab seems about right? 

 

Apologies to the couple of guys who asked me earlier this year whether I'd split and to who i replied "No f***ing way"

Oh my - the dream amp!  I love an Ashdown! I had a CTM300 but that was total overkill, but the 100w didn't cut it.  200w tube amp through that 15 inch cab must be absolutely glorious!!

 

I know it must weigh the same as a neutron star, but what are the cab dimensions please?

i’ll get some measurements later today Matt, it’s a glorious piece of engineering but I also have two Mesa rigs and even I can’t justify that level of gear…. 🤔

 

And all joking aside, it’s not too weighty, a lot less than my Mesa Diesel 15 and head 👍

Hi @MattW the cab is a tad over 24" wide, a tad over 24" tall, and 16" deep. I'l travelling north in the next couple of weeks so meet up would be an option I'm sure 👍
