King Tut Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Ive used four different wireless systems over the years and they've all seemed to suffer from some distortion (not the nice kind) particularly when digging in with high output basses. I was gigging last night with a passive jazz (quarter pounder pups) and even with that I noticed it a couple of times when playing hard over the bridge pickup. I'm wondering if this a 'thing' with wireless systems that we just have to live with or whether it's just the systems that I've used and need to splash out a bit of dosh on something better. So far I've used a Senheiser Freeport, Line6 G30, Xvive and currently on Lekato WS50. I'd be interested to hear your opinions and learn from your experience. Cheers. Quote
fretmeister Posted September 23 Posted September 23 My EMGs are about 1mm from the string. I've got a Smoothhound and a Line 6 G70 and neither of them distort the wireless. The G70 has a gain control on the output / receiver going to the next things in the the signal path but the Smoothhound does not. Neither has a gain control on the transmitter to receiver. The Smoothhound was very cheap, the G70 was not. Are you sure it's the wireless and not something later in the chain? Quote

Can't be the amp as I was feeding in ears directly from my Stomp XL - So could also be the stomp or the headphone amp. Quote
tauzero Posted September 24 Posted September 24 I've got a Smoothhound, a Line 6 G50, a Harley Benton something, Lekato WS-50s and WS-70s and the M-Vave clone of the WS-70. Almost all my basses are active although none of them are ridiculously high output. Never had a problem with any of them distorting through any of the wirelesses. 1 Quote
police squad Posted September 28 Posted September 28 I was going to use my WS-50 at a U2 Tribe gig but it sounded weird with my Warwick Reverso, so went back to a lead It sounds excellent with 6 stringers in my 80s thing I was going to buy a Shure GLXD16+. I was hoping to get a 2nd hand one but will go for a new one, interest free fairly soon 1 Quote
