Mazeti 5 String Bass info

Hi, 

I recently picked this bass up as I was looking for a 5 String to practice on. I cant find much info on the brand but it plays well and feels really well built and solid, especially for the price

Can't be too much help, but it's a cool looking thing!

 

Most likely a Korean made bass made for a number of brands. A quick Google image search brought up Wood doing a bass very similar. Googling Mazeti brings up a whole bunch of those 5 and 6 string basses that brands like Shine etc do.

 

By no means a bad thing to come from one of those types of factories! Enjoy.

Thanks, ive just discovered Google lens and yes it looks practically identical to the Woodo bass in the results.

They used to be rebranded KHL instruments, Korean company but will most likely be built elsewhere and also sold under the HK brand in Europe (German distributor IIRC) and Wolf in the USA, you might get more info by searching those. They made an appearance again on eBay a year or two ago, more Fenderish than the prior more original body shapes.

 

May just be whoever owns the brand using in on import lines, from what I remember they were cheap but good.

Mazeti is - or probably was - a brand from 15-20 years back & may have been exclusively sold on Ebay, back before it was complete sh!te. As well as the usual stuff I remember some nice-looking Jazz types with hippy-sandwich type bodies in nice woods - and I always had inexplicable GAS for this odd singlecut semi thing with a bizarre headstock & laminated fretboard. They likely pre-date the Chinese invasion so were possibly Korean, Indonesian or Taiwanese.
