NickD Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Damnit! So I'm tuning my NS Wav 5, as I have done many times, and 'BANG'! I thought I'd broken the E string, but on inspection it turns out the tuner has broken, the shaft has completely popped out. I had read that they were a bit substandard, but I guess I got over four years out of it. Looking at the rest there's a couple where the shaft is at an angle it probably shouldn't be. It's invaluable as a practice tool at home, so I need to get on with getting it fixed. I'm guessing I'm not the first to have this issue, so before I take it out and start measuring, does anyone know of a direct replacement off the top of their head. I don't mind buying a set, as given how much use it gets it'd be a worthwhile upgrade. Thanks in advance! 1 Quote
petebassist Posted August 10 Posted August 10 The US Gollihur website is a good resource for this type of thing. Then you might be able to source some locally. Exactly the he same thing happened to my Ibanez SRH500F a couple of weeks back so I ordered some GOTOH replacements from Thomann. 2 Quote
NickD Posted August 10 Author Posted August 10 Thanks Chaps When I Googled NS Wav replacement tuners it was the Gotoh GB707 set at Thomann came up. i saw the Hipshots on the Golihur site, but they don't state the code for them, for me to look closer to home. Quote
Hellzero Posted August 10 Posted August 10 The Gotoh GB707 has a plain full shaft, when the older GB7 has a concave at its center shaft. Both will work, with more accuracy for the GB707, and the original Gotohs machined heads are excellent. 1 Quote
NickD Posted August 10 Author Posted August 10 Brilliant, thanks. I'll see what I can get sorted. Quote
dyerseve Posted August 12 Posted August 12 If it helps, I can source these Spector branded Gotoh tuners for you here in Germany - 50€ for the set: 2 Quote
NickD Posted August 12 Author Posted August 12 Thanks, I really appreciate the help! But I've got a set winging their way from Thomann as we speak. 1 Quote

They shouldn't really fail, especially after 5 years. If it happens again, they'll likely replace them for free. 1 Quote
NickD Posted August 12 Author Posted August 12 I did buy it new, but I never thought to approach NS design to be fair, I kinda need to get on with it. Having said that, it looks like dissatisfaction with the tuners on the lower models is quite common. The Gotohs should be an upgrade. I suppose I should be relieved... Had it been the E string snapping, like I thought at the time, that would have probably cost me more!🤣 1 Quote
