police squad Posted Saturday at 06:54 Posted Saturday at 06:54 I've read that some people set their Rik basses up with no relief in the neck My HW has little relief and rattles a bit. Is this part of the clank that we all desire It plays really nice but if I dig in, (and I do, especially playing Jam songs) it gets a bit messy The bass is literally brand new ( I only ordered it 4 weeks ago) and will probably settle a bit, I have no prblem adjusting truss rods etc your thoughts please Quote
Doctor J Posted Saturday at 07:40 Posted Saturday at 07:40 I used to love the clank when I had a 4003, it's definitely part of the sound for me, provided you're just getting clank and the strings aren't choking. Quote
Skybone Posted Saturday at 08:40 Posted Saturday at 08:40 As you both say, the clank is part and parcel of "the sound", especially when you dig in. My HW is a single truss rod, so a bit easier to adjust. Yes, making sure that the strings don't choke is important, having a little neck relief is great, but just making sure it's playable is the big thing. Quote
BlueMoon Posted Saturday at 12:45 Posted Saturday at 12:45 Flat neck and clank is absolutely normal. It’s all part and parcel of the Ricky experience. Especially when playing with a plectrum. Embrace it, Enjoy it! Quote
police squad Posted Saturday at 13:28 Author Posted Saturday at 13:28 thanks everyone, perhaps that's why they've never worked for me. I had too much relief. I shall embrace the clank 2 Quote
