BassBiscuit Posted Thursday at 14:00 Posted Thursday at 14:00 Have Fender discontinued it..? Seems to have disappeared from site... Quote
HeadlessBassist Posted yesterday at 14:42 Posted yesterday at 14:42 I noticed over the last few weeks that when you go to select 'Series' on the Fender site, American Performer isn't in the list anymore, but the basses are still listed as available at around the £1400 mark. I hope they carry on, as they're great basses, especially if my American Performer Mustang is anything to go by. Quote
Stub Mandrel Posted yesterday at 15:38 Posted yesterday at 15:38 Hopefully this means they plan to reissue the real Performer. 1 Quote
HeadlessBassist Posted yesterday at 16:21 Posted yesterday at 16:21 That's the weird looking mid 80's John Page designed one, isn't it? They only made them for about a year if I remember rightly. 3 1 Quote

Alanko Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago It would be cool if they made an honest one-pickup American-built Mustang bass rather than the hybrid thing currently on offer. Maybe go back and take the geometries from a vintage Mustang rather than relying on the redrawn geometries seen on the CIJ reissues and everything else since, regardless of country of origin. Quote

BassBiscuit Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago Mmm. So Fender won't show 'em to you on the site but you can order one..... And then Snorkie gets an email showing 'em as still being buyable...! Would any one else deduce they are in fact discontinued... Fender floggin' off remaining stock?... Cos there is a new one due...?? Quote

nige1968 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) I don’t think they’re allowed to say ‘made in USA’ any more unless every component is made in USA. But yes, probably not much craftsman carving going on. Edited 4 hours ago by nige1968 Quote

Cos there is a new one due...?? The series before was called the American Special, wasn't it? There will probably be another similar product with a couple of small improvements and something taken away (my bet is truss rod above the nut and skunk stripe on the back of the neck, like the cheaper Mexican instruments and the newest American Ultra II.)
