Also the Markbass. Both seemed to have more life to them. I was aiming for a SVT rig sound though. I tried a few presets at first but wanted to create my own. Dont get me wrong, i really like most of what im hearing, its just to my ears using headphones there is something in the sound, every sound, that is putting me off. I noticed a lot of the presets have multiple EQ blocks, i thought that strange. I wont give up on it until ive used it with the band. I feel that’s where it will work better. I'll agree that through IE/headphones there are are lot of amp SIMs that just sound too anaemic or polite. Adding cab SIMs via my recent acquisition of an HX Stomp helps but some the classic bass cab SIMs are truly awful. Simply scrolling without reading what a cab is, has revealed that some choices such as 1x12 'guitar' cabs sound as good as anything that is marked 'bass' and has improved the IE sound. The MS60 does have a couple of cab tweaks which can really help. Quote

Yeah, there is a lot of variety in these pedals, but i just cant get the openness ive heard from others, inc my old HX stomp, just something missing from the top end. No sparkle, even if i boost it all. Playing along to music is fine, so im sure in a band situation I’ll never notice it. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted Monday at 10:56 Posted Monday at 10:56 (edited) while I wait for the midi pedal, ive brought a Valeton GP-5. Totally different pedals but I want to give it a try as well. At least I know the midi pedal will work with either. Edited Monday at 11:36 by dave_bass5 Quote

Be interested how you get on, it is on my list of things to probably end up with for my small pedalboard! Would probably be good if I use a midi switcher to select the patches. Quote

Would probably be good if I use a midi switcher to select the patches. Well, ive had the GP-5 for a couple of days, and my thoughts are these. It’s small, really small, and heavy (in a good way). It feels and looks a lot more expensive. Sound wise, the amps are more open, i can live with these. I dont think the FX are much to write home about, certainly as far as the ones I’d want to use. They sound nice, but are very basic. The whole point of me getting a multi FX was to see if i can get a Phaser with a volume or level control. This doesn't even have a mix control in its phaser. This means im no better off pairing it with my MB3 than i am with the Blood moon phaser i have, which sounds much better than either of these pedals. The GP-5 is quite simple to operate, but it takes some forethought. I found it easier to use than the 60B+, but it’s not as versatile. I have a Chocolate plus coming, but i don’t think I’ll have an immediate need for it. It seems that i cant turn on and off individual blocks in the GP-5, which is exactly what i want to do. Like a mini pedalboard. The 60B+ is going back, and at this point i expect the GP-5 will, as its quite a distraction and i cant use it as i want, but as it cost so little im also inclined to keep it and see how i get on. Just a quick shot showing the two and how much of a size difference there is. 1 Quote
dave_bass5 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Oh, ill probably try a ToneX one next, but not just yet. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Just a quick update. I’ve decided to the keep the GP-5. Now that I’ve actually looked in the manual i can see i can use it like a small board. Each block has a midi on/off number. And the fact that the Chocolate can also power it makes for a very small back up. Quote
Woodinblack Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I watched a recent video about it on bass and I wasn't that impressed with its sounds, but it is small and useable so for gigging it is probably ok Quote

It will also serve as a better OD than my MB3 can produce. Quote
