Standard notation has many flaws. There's lots of alternatives to standard notation. You'll have to watch it to find out what comes out on top.

You were a bit slow. I watched the intro and then scooted to the conclusion. So I caught a blow by of some of the alternative schemes. That softened the concluding statement not one little bit. We won't all be converting to tab after all!

I used to know the rules for reading those rhythms, but my brain seems to have found forgetting preferable to remembering. Where the tails are, and the direction they're pointed in make a difference to the length of the note, that's all I know now. And that there's a reason why some are in red.
