They seem to be available in (at least!) three separate manufactured types: copper (like gear4music inhouse), bronze (Warwick) and phosphor-bronze. Maude Posted September 24, 2023 Share Posted September 24, 2023 They're all horrible! Sorry, not a lot of help I realise. I find all 'acoustic' bass strings really noisy, lots of fret clatter and string squeal when moving around. You can fit any type of string to an acoustic, I use Fender tapewounds. You may sacrifice some volume but I find the tone is greatly improved over any 'acoustic' strings. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

lemmywinks Posted September 25, 2023 Share Posted September 25, 2023 (edited) As said ditch the typical bronze wound strings, I like nylon tapewound or filament core/bronze wound. Some manufacturers are starting to use carbon coated strings on acoustic basses from the factory.
