For sale (no trades sorry) is a MIM Fender Mike Dirnt Artist Series Signature Precision. Affectionally named “Beefy” because this was a dedicated drop tuning BEAD bass, and because of the resonate solid Ash body. It’s modelled after the iconic 51 P bass. Has a maple neck with thick "C" profile, rosewood slab fretboard and classic '51 Telecaster® headstock shape. With Fender stamped 70s tuners and a Hipshot Tuner Xtender Key BT2. Fender HiMass™ bridge. There are some marks, scratches and dings commensurate with age, but in general very good condition.

The bass has been in my studio for a while unplayed as I don’t use drop tuning much these days, and the D’Addario strings are a little old. So the bass would probably benefit from some new strings and a good service to get it tip top again. I did plug the bass in and still sounds great. Specs below:

Year – 2008
Colour – Black
Body Finish – Gloss
Body Wood  – Ash with forearm contour
Neck Finish – Satin
Neck Wood – Maple
Fretboard – Rosewood
Fingerboard Radius - 9.5”
Nut Width - 1.59" (40.4 mm)
Frets – 20
Scale Length – 34”
Weight – 10.11bs/4.8kgs
Electronics – Passive
Pickups – Fender P Split Coil
Bridge - Fender HiMass™ with Chrome-Plated Zinc Saddles
Tuners - Fender stamped 70s Style + Hipshot Tuner Xtender Key BT2

£495 + Postage.

Great bit of kit, got them on all my basses so I can drop E to a D, recommended if you need that sort of thing 😜

that makes sense, but I thought that it was done now via shapeshifters or embedded in the electronic tuners/pedals of the gig gears? I thought the shapeshiter feature was that? Or am I "blaspheming" here? ... also I understand the difference from a mechanical tool worth 30 £ vs a digital tool worth 200 maybe

An electronic shifter would shift the whole bass up or down at many tones as you like. But it couldn't shift a single string.
