I generally really don't like black basses, and I don't like Fenders. But somehow that's gorgeous!

The bass has been in my studio for a while unplayed as I don’t use drop tuning much these days, and the D’Addario strings are a little old. Great bit of kit, got them on all my basses so I can drop E to a D, recommended if you need that sort of thing 😜

that makes sense, but I thought that it was done now via shapeshifters or embedded in the electronic tuners/pedals of the gig gears? I thought the shapeshiter feature was that? Or am I "blaspheming" here? ... also I understand the difference from a mechanical tool worth 30 £ vs a digital tool worth 200 maybe

An electronic shifter would shift the whole bass up or down at many tones as you like. But it couldn't shift a single string.
