Jimothey Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 HiĀ Ā Iām trying to set up my latest build and Iāve got a fret buzz on the A and D strings only on the 3rd fret Iāve tweeted the truss rod as the neck had a bit too much of a back bow and Iāve raised the action on the two strings but itās still buzzing!! Iāve checked with my rocker and the fret doesnāt look to be high/low? Ā Do you think itās a nut issue? If so what would be the best way to test it? Ā Thanks in advanceā¦ā¦.šš» Quote
PaulThePlug Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 (edited) Maybe a pre cut nut for say a 12" radius on a 9" radius fret board? Fret the string at the third... there should be a 'light tap' gap between string and first fret. If not try a pit of paper in the nut slot... if this fixes the issue and youĀ dont want to replace the nut then the Super Glue and Baking Soda mix works. did this on my J Bitsa - nothing to loose... paul_5 Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 sounds like it could be a slightly proud 4th fret - fret a note at the third fret and see how much of a gap there is at the 4th fret, I"ll bet it's not enough. 1 1 Quote
Lozz196 Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Agree Paul, I had similar once and our very own @gary macsorted it for me. 1 Quote

Jimothey Posted October 15, 2022 Author Posted October 15, 2022 Thanks for the repliesā¦..šš» Ā I rechecked with my more expensive fret rocker (not my cheap wish one I used originally!!) and the 3rd fret is lower than the 2nd and 4th so looks like a fret level job is neededĀ Quote
