Strawbs664
MT & Wishbone Ash were a huge influence on me without me really realising it, so I love this thread. The first album of theirs I got was Live Dates Vol II, when I was about 13. Loved the bass sound on FUBB without really knowing I was even listening to bass at that age! mc2
Regarding MT's Hamer Bass. I tried to buy it from him but it was already gone. But he told me the neck had gine bad, which is why h sold it. I happen to know it was SN#001 and used real 60s Gibson TBird PUPs and parts. I believe the neck was also an actual recycled 60s Gibson/Epiphone neck.
Bassman Sam
I played in a WA tribute band back in the '70's before tribute bands became fashionable. I loved playing MT's basslines and still play Handy and Phoenix when jamming with my old bandmates.
Treeb
Ballad of the Beacon was the first bass line I ever learned. It was MT (and Geddy Lee) that got me playing bass.
