It would be a toss up between Geddy and this guy ...

Best gig was Rush on the R30 tour at the SECC, Glasgow, in 2004 ... the band were really up for the gig and it was fantastic. Worst gig was Chris de Burgh at the Edinburgh Playhouse ... must have been around 1986/7 ... was dragged along by a girlfriend ... absolutely freakin' tedious doesn't begin to describe the misery of the experience 😱

Can't beat a bit of French prog ...

One of my biggest musical regrets is never seeing Rory Gallagher live. Had the chance in 1980 (I think) ... me and my mates were bored one Sunday evening and the choice was either the Airplane! movie or Rory Gallagher at the Glasgow Apollo. We chose the movie ☹️

My bass ... ... in my mind ... ... the reality, with me at the wheel.

Saw Jethro Tull in 2005/6 performing the whole of Aqualung. As well as Ian Anderson's voice being a bit past it, they were accompanied on stage by a young violinist and a chunk of the set was just boring. The natives were well restless. Totally agree. Seen them twice ... once as just a duo (supporting 10,000 Maniacs) in the late '80s and once as a band in the early noughties.

Bought a Dingwall D-Roc from BD earlier in the week. Part of the payment was coming from my employer (30 year service gift!) and Mark was very helpful during somewhat involved email discussion leading up to the sale. Excellent customer service.

Mike Oldfield - got me properly listening to music when I was 14 Rush - saw them on the Permanent Waves tour and they blew my 16 year old mind Godspeed You! Black Emperor - a much later influence (in my mid-30s), introduced me to post rock and further musical possibilities

Have seen Jonas Reingold with The Flower Kings in the past - he's an excellent player.

Ballad of the Beacon was the first bass line I ever learned. It was MT (and Geddy Lee) that got me playing bass.

Martin Turner and Geddy Lee ... I remember (as a teen) being struck by how much their bass playing added to the music.

Totally agree - I remember making a comment on a Rush fan site when Vapor Trails was released - "... too much My Favourite Headache, not enough Victor ..."

'Twas a bit surreal - I managed to keep calm (my son was only five at the time and I didn't want to totally lose it in front of him) - I took the bass to Guitar Guitar to get it checked out straight away (I walked there to calm down - only 25 mins from me) and Bob assured me that it could all be easily sorted. Was much calmer when I got home!

I used Bob Mould at Guitar Guitar in Corstorphine several years ago and he did a great job. At the time I was travelling a lot with work (and not playing ... sadly still don't have time to play much) and found that my bass had been stored in the garden shed ... it was a bit slimy, smelled damp and clattered a bit ... Bob sorted it all out for me!

I'm not so sure. Many years ago, a female friend who was sick of queuing for the ladies toilets at T in the Park, bought a pack of devices to enable her to pee standing up (they look a bit like a kazoo). She said it took a wee bit of practice in the shower, but she mastered it. She used the device at the gents peeing trough the following year ... it freaked a few of the guys out! My wife has also used these when we've been travelling - she says they are much better than squatting in some of the dodgy toilets you find in some places ...

I'd happily travel down to attend both shows ... it will be my son's birthday on the Sunday (he's learning guitar ... and becoming a bit of a guitar geek) ... gives me the perfect reason for going 🙂
