Jazz bass with 5 knobs + Glockenklang preamp

I have an Allen Eden NYC Jazz bass I am thinking of upgrading with a Glockenklang 3-band 5 knob preamp. The bass has Mings high output pickups currently fitted, does anyone know if these are suitable to use with the Glockenklang?

I would welcome suggestions as to knob positioning, I am swaying towards this

This is the other most likely optionDSC_0797.thumb.JPG.00ecadddbd0a7db8f656c46c57fb5ae1.JPG

I am thinking this looks too congested DSC_0798.thumb.JPG.ddd1a8acf13f5e08b64801d0beed9241.JPG

This is the space I have to work with DSC_0794.thumb.JPG.9b377c83d8572551266965bd4077bae3.JPG

Any input gratefully received :)

So it's passive right now, with " high output pickups "

I'm wondering whether active is the right way to go with high output pups,  since most  factory active basses have lower output pups, due to the boost of a preamp

Still, wouldnt do any harm i guess.  Just turn your current amps EQ down when you first plug in.

Personally, i'd leave that gorgeous bass alone.

I've got the exact Glockenklang pre-amp in one of my basses and from memory with all the Eq set flat, there is no amplification so can't see why it would be a problem. Unfortunately it is with a Luthier at the moment so can't check but pretty sure that is the case.

A lot of of active pre-amps are built this way but if you think it may be an issue consider a John East pre-amp as they have "trim" pots for each pick up.

As for the arrangement of the controls it would have to be Option 1 for me. Vol/Balance nearest the strings and the 3 eq controls together below. I would also use smaller knobs for the eq controls.

I think the issue for me is what appears to be a really nice bass being let down by shoddy finishing. I shall look at improving the wiring and maybe use the Glockenklang somewhere else. I have a few old basses that could use some help with worn-out pots etc.

I have a Line 6 XT Pro that does all the pre-amp stuff for me btw :)
