I bought the body on Ebay years ago with the intention of doing something with it, then a rosewood neck caught my eye and I bought that to try on my white T40... Years passed and recently I started to look into putting one together with the body/neck I had... I bought various bits and pieces, all starting to come together but still missing some key components and then I spotted this on Ebay a couple of weeks ago: [url="http://s128.photobucket.com/user/wishlistrock/media/s-l1600%203_zps2mgt81bs.jpg.html"][/url] [url="http://s128.photobucket.com/user/wishlistrock/media/s-l1600%202_zpsfyn87pfo.jpg.html"][/url] Which although severely messed up, had more than enough parts to fix mine up... So I spent way too much on a destroyed bass. Mad? Definitely. Add to that all the other parts I'd previously sourced from all over the globe (pickups, bridge, control knobs, etc etc) and this has been an expensive project. Fortunately dannybouy gave me the pickguard for free so that saved me from financial meltdown (thanks again!). [/quote] I've lent mine to a few bassists and they all tend to fall for them (aside from the weight), I'd definitely recommend giving one a play sometime. They're so well made/designed. The combination of neck and body was from the desire to reunite the white one with it's original maple neck (I've had the rosewood on it for years) and also I showed my 4 year old nephew and he chose that neck for the natural body I'd been sanding and finishing: "that one... because it's the same" - not quite but I could see what he meant! T40 are great - loved playing mine when I had it [/quote] ha ha, yeah I hoped people would appreciate that, it seemed odd spending so much on something that looked like that but the value of the spare parts made it worthwhile I'm gonna sort through the spares I have and maybe Ebay them (or start looking for another busted T40 to restore?!?!) and I'm considering listing that 'modified' body. Mainly in the hope that if anyone else thinks about hacking up theirs to cut down on weight, they can buy that one instead and I'll have saved another T40 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

OK it cost you a fair bit but you spread the costs over time so would hardly feel it I've finished a couple of 40's myself these last few months,much to the horror of purists One had been waiting 3 years on getting wired up correctly.When I realised another 3 year was likely I spent 20mins cutting in a battery box then threw in a preamp Think that was in April. 2nd one was 2 weeks back. T40 with an extra hole in the headstock was bought before it got stripped for parts.
