[b]TC Electronic BG250-208 bass combo with original package, user manual, sticker for the footswitch (no delivered with), EU power cord, latest software installed, in very good state except for two small marks on the (very thin) tolex and a nick on the metal grid (see pictures) [u]AND[/u] two (2) new Fane Sovereign 8-225 speakers installed (the original still working Chinese craps will be delivered with it). So now, you've got a 14 kilograms combo that can truly handle [/b][b]250 Watts under 4 Ohms thanks to the Fane's that are in 8 Ohms each (so 4 Ohms both) that turned this already good combo into a real powerful machine with a lot more headroom. Beware that you can't put any extension speaker without being sure to blow the power amp !!! I will put a piece of tape on the Speakon output mentioning that and a Dymo sticker.[/b]

Thought I was all set with my TCE BG250-208. Now I'm hankering after 2 x Fane Sovereign 8-225.

Ok, so as I get the same question all the time, here is the answer.

The mod is a simple unscrew the old ones and rescrew the new ones, that's all.

The difference is so huge, that you'll ask yourself is it still the same amp ?

Way far better, powerfuller and preciser bass. A better definition all across the bandwidth which will be wider and way more headroom.

It's a "winning on all sides" easy mod, but don't forget to respect the speakers polarity.

You can even disconnect totally the speakon output to be sure.

These Fane Sovereign 8-225 were the mod speakers used in the SWR Baby Blue to improve this already excellent combo, just in case.

Me too.

I was thinking of replacing just 1 to begin with, the bottom one, and having a listen. That would be a 16 ohm top spkr and an 8 ohm lower. 1/3 power to the top, 2/3 power the lower. 5 and 1/3 ohm total.

If I connected an 8 ohm extension cab it would give 3 and 2/3 ohm total which should be okay. Power would be in the ratio of top to bottom to ext = 1 : 4 : 2

If it sounded poor mixing the speakers then I'd just put the other fane in the top.
