knirirr Posted Thursday at 15:04 Posted Thursday at 15:04 I last saw the Echoes of Ellington big band, with Sara Oschlag last weekend. It's always a pleasure to see professional jazz musicians at work and it was an enjoyable gig. They even played a few unfamiliar tunes, which is always nice. This band made the excellent Jazz Planets album. No photos or video of the performance were permitted but one of the theatre's interior is below. The venue was an added bonus as it used to be a cinema I went to often and where I saw Star Wars when it opened in the UK in 1978. I've not been in there since the late 1980s and it closed in 1991. It still looks recognisable despite some major changes. 1 Quote

I used to go to Saturday morning pictures there as a kid in the 1960’s, it was 6 old pence downstairs and 9 old pence upstairs. The developers have done a superb job whilst retaining the Art Deco features. 1 Quote

Homatron Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Last night I went to see Freshly Squeezed at the Bread & Roses in Plymouth. Great gig! Super fun, but tinged with sadness... The gig was part of a push to save this brilliant venue. I hope its OK to share the crowdfunder link here, in case anyone feels they could spare a few pennies. https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/qr/1n72BK7W?utm_campaign=sharemodal&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=shortlink Quote
