ash Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 (edited) This odd looking wedge shaped bass is one of the last aluminium necked bass models made by Kramer. I bought this as a project - it needed work - I got the correct Schaller roller bridge for it as it was fitted with a Badass that made the action too high. It looks like it has had a Kahler type bridge installed at some point as it's got some filled holes under the bridge. It has also had an overspray by the look of things. I believe the Schaller pickup is original - I've seen a few pics online and this looks like the pickup installed. The original Schaller tuners have been replaced with new ones. 3below Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) What is the scale length on this model? Are the neck wood inserts black painted or brown/dark varnish finish? Edited October 21, 2015 by 3below
ash Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) It's medium - not shortscale and inserts are painted black cheers Edited October 22, 2015 by ash
ash Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 Just measured scale from the bridge saddles to the nut and its 32'' and back of bridge to nut 33.4". Most Kramers have a medium scale sorry for the confusion.
MoonBassAlpha Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Nothing sounds quite like an aluminium necked bass. I'm surprised no one has enquired as to it's suitability for metal yet....
Shaggy Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Love my Kramer 650B, and this seems truly bargainaceous - I've seen the necks go for more than that Not just tonally great, but necks are zero-maintenance, no truss rod to faff about with Lumie bump

Am getting tempted with the thought of a custom body for this neck. Someone should save me from this.
ash Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 Well if anyone wants to buy the neck only....
