Ibanez?

Recommended Posts

Could I put it to the members of the jury, that this bass guitar is nothing but an imposter and its owner nothing more than a scoundrel.

The logo, the black of the sunburst on the forearm chamfer covering the laminations of the ply, the cheap tuners, the pressed bridge, the serial number (12345) forfuxsake, the shape of the heel, the grain-less body wood.......
it is so not an Ibanez.

The worst bit is, he actually compares it to a USA Fender that he alegedly owns and says that it is just as good.

He should be reported, it really grinds my gears when fakes are sold on Ebay.

Saw that one myself too. Logo is definitely an add on. Grade A Tosser.

I totally agree and have you read why his feedback isn't 100%. The biggest giveaway is the finish, the way the black covers all the contours on the front and back, all the areas that would show the laminations of the plywood.
I use to own a Blazer bass back in the 80's and it was built like a tank and since then I have never seen an Ibanez bass that looks anything like this thing he is trying to palm off.
Can any Ibanez experts chime in?

Interesting that he sold it before, with the same description. Buyer then left negative feedback saying it was a fake, then saying it wasn't a fake? Now the seller is selling it again.

Probably not the same one. This is the fourth or fifth one of these I've seen - looks like this particular pikey scumbag is just badging up trashy modern P copies and selling them as Ibanez.

You will never, ever see a "genuine" Ibby precision copy with that style logo. They stopped making them around 1977, and they all have the vintage "spaghetti" style logo. Serial number (where present) will be on the neckplate, which will also have "Made In Japan" stamped on the lower half, and rosewood boards are very, very uncommon - most MIJ 70s P copies had maple boards. They will also tend to look like vintage instruments, rather than something that arrived in a crate from China last Thursday.

I suspect it is the same one - same seller, same serial, same description?

His feedback isn't all that bad,and as regards the bass in question,it is the same bass as previously listed by him.Seems he was messed about by the previous buyer, for reasons that are all too obvious now, refunded him and got the bass back.I e-mailed him re the ply wood issue. He responded twice, but did not mention my comments on the subject.Anyway the bass is now withdrawn from sale.
