I'm reminded of the old Arion effects that were all 'stereo'.

Fine for the Chorus, but a stereo compressor? As far as I could see it split the signal into wet and dry channels. Wish I still had it, I used that pedal live for years. It was probably crap...

But the point is the three easiest ways to make a mono source stereo:

Use the pan control to position it on the sound stage.

Use a true stereo effect to split it into two close but different signals in each channel.

Use two microphones (or di and one mic) to record so one is close up and one is 'roomy' with more ambience.

Arion SCO-1 - Son has one...

Out 1: Short Attack, Out 2: Direct Out 1: Long Attack, Out 2: Mellow

And my Arion Guitar Board from the 80's - Stereo Everything!

I may be in a minority of 2 here but stereo is overrated, especially fake stereo, the other on is Wilko Johnson who said the Feelgood's first album Down By the Jetty was mono because they couldn't really get a stereo recording from drums, bass, vocals and one guitar

I love "Down By The Jetty". I had no idea it was done in mono after all these years. Shows how much I know.

Wonderful album.
